Bump for a thread from the past.

Was speaking to a couple of people about this recently, both a bearing shop and a rally bloke. Seemingly Timken have some magic process in the manufacture of their bearings that makes them a fair amount stronger for a given size, the rally chap confirms that Timken are the only thing that don't wear out silly fast on his slightly modded steering setup.

Timken required parts are "Set 1" and "Set 4" bearings, I hadn't been able to find an oil seal until now, as wasn't sure which shape it should be (the seal catalogue is about 400 pages thick...) I'll try it against Mac's part no above

Latest bounce. I'll be trying to purchase the above tomorrow, mine have gone again.

Anyone got a good supplier of stake nuts? Really don't want to reuse them.

2x LM11749-LM11710 TRB (outer bearings)
2x LM44649-LM44610 TRB (inner bearings)
2x Seal 38 x 52 x 8 (or x 7)

I bought "over the counter" and the total cost including v.a.t. was £35.44

Mac.
My over the counter bearings today were all the above (7mm thick seals) all in stock at Solent Bearings. Cost for me was £58inc though for both sides, I might have to change my supplier ;) Stake nuts are still available from Volvo it seems, so I got an armfull of those too

How many times you done this now? I take it this is due to your wheels?

This is only the second time (I think, there's an outside chance it could be the third but I'd have to go through the receipts) I've done Fake.

To be fair, with the mileage I do (it's 25,000 since my last wheel bearing change), as well as the wheels I've got on and the kind of abuse it gets with rallying and autotests I can't complain too much.

I'm slightly annoyed I got NTN bearings rather than Timken as I wanted to see how well they lasted. My last lot were SKF from memory (genuine Volvo kits last time) though I'll see in half hour when I pull then out
