The massive burning question is if you're going to jump a car in reverse why not use a vario? It would have gone twice as fast as that pile of BoLlocks
We had a vanden plas 'leggro when I was 6 and it ended up about the same state as the TG one when a drunk prick mounted it after an argument with his wife.

That's always the problem with the bread-and-butter cars, they get thrown away while the SLs, Spiders and MGBs get cherished, and so they end up becoming very rare.

Yes, of course it's "only" an Allegro. But why do you have to trash a 35 year old car? Any 15-year old banger from the scrapyard would have been fine, but it doesn't make such good TV, not does it satisfy Mr Clarksons personal problem with British Leyland. I can just see Top Gear scouring the countryside for used Allegros, not finding one, and then finally prising one away from a Vanden Plas enthusiast who's just reducing his collection.

There'll be outrage here, when TG discovers the "fun" in recreating the crash test dummy ad with 343 Mk1s or doing reverse jumps with varios, as John says ...

I know what you're saying Tom. A Mondeo would have been fine...

Having said that, an Allegro is a special kind of hateful. There are very few cars I can't find love for, but there's one...

cheers

Fantastic. Check out the twirling of that square steering wheel.
