Don't make me actually do something as a mod guys...

Live and let live until someone admits to doing something stupid/illegal etc. Anyone who is a c*ck generally doesn't last long here so we are lucky, be thankful for it.

Im with you mr c.
i dont condone anything illegal or irresponsible.
And ive never seen any long standing v3mer do either, either.

Drifter bashings a bit beyond the pail though.
As long as its not illegal, or dangerous, i dont think anyone here has the right to tell people what to do and what not to do.
Am i not getting that accross correctly?

i'll try rearanging it:
As long as its not illegal, or dangerous, i dont think anyone here has the right to tell people what to do and what not to do.
The best way to help people is to advise people sensibly. the best we can.
lets keep each other safe.

It becomes a grey line mate. Ignoring whats said on here, we all know how many of the "drifters" (said in that manor as there are blatently proper drifters who care, and some wannabies out for a cheap laugh but you get that in any activity) actually pay to use somewhere offroad. Not to mention the amount of very nice shiney 300's we've seen smashed up.

On the other hand, they've helped the 300 move on a stage in it's aging, and I think it can't be argued that this interest has brought us some more parts. People will get annoyed at it, all views are welcome to an extent. Anyone without the common to see where this is can have it pointed out to them as and when required.

Most of the drift types on here seem decent, long may that continue.

Sven... I've just MSN'd the FWD lover, he'll be around for you to wind up shortly ;)

hahahahaha be careful what you wish for, I know that you've been pining away in my absence sven... truth is I've actually been very busy for once! I haven't even had time to play with my french shopping trolley  - rest assured I will be gracing the forums with my presence much more frequently once I finish building my little red rallye trolley and begin to build the volvo into the fast-ish daily driver that it deserves to be. (If chris hasn't stolen all the nice volvo bits before then!) - in fact, I just picked up some bargain toys for the fwd crap that ought to see it handling rather nicely 8)

I think most of us spot the real plumbs and ignore well enough man.
But ignoring some poor grommet thats obviously over the moon with his first car (a 300 at that) and wants to know how to toughen it up a bit is a bit harsh.
If I'd come across a load of lads like the V3M Stalwarts when I was 17, i bet you i wouldnt have got into half the nonsense I did.
That make sense man?

Advice is key.

i think.

Tell someone NOT to do something and theyll go and do it. Nailed on. Specially at 17-18.
Tell em that they can learn to rule the world, do a race licence and have a pisslaugh learning how to do things propperly without writing the car off/killing people and i bet you half of them'd be well eager.

Am I makin sense man?

Living opposite a Citroen bodyshop I see loads of Saxos with the front ends ripped off, quite shocking really. I just hope all concerned come out unscathed, especially the poor s*d they hit.

We also get lots of brand new Clios round here driven by scrotes who's equally scrote-ish parents no doubt buy it for them so the kid can't comprehend the worth of having a car - they just wreck it and get daddy to buy them a new one. Said parents are probably the sort of osser who drives around the suburbs of London in a massive 4x4 or one of those poxy pickup trucks that are more at home in Texas than the cramped environs of a London borough! Give me strength...

Sorry for the strong comments but I'm sick of the roads being like a war zone. Part of the reason why I bought a Volvo. If there's a war on I wanna be equipped :)

"Ian Mac"'s comments may have been a little on the harsh side, but I found it refreshing, sorry! I'll leave the "dangerous" bit aside for now (who here hasn't ever given their right foot a quick flick in a damp corner?) but if you've been into these cars for a long time, and live in a country where they're actually quite rare, you can't expect to jump for joy if someone puts up a post along the lines of "I've bought a low mileage minter for 50p and now I'm going to blast it to hell". It's like being a British Leyland fan and watching Top Gear burn a Marina. A big hoot for some, heartwrenching for others.

It's anyone's right to do what they want with their car (safely), but in a "free speech" forum it's also someone's right to say what they think of it as long as they're not being offensive.

Any increase in interest in the V300 can only be good - if thousands of drifters start demonstrating outside their local dealers' demanding parts then great! Unfortunately, too many people see it as a cheap throw-away item to practice on before moving on to something else and it tends to go like this:

Post nr. 1
"anyone got a cheap 1.7, I wanna learn driftin, cheers m8"

Post nr. 2
"grabbed 1 from the old bird next door, gonna paint it black!"

Post nr. 3
"f*ck, I crashed into the bloke in front. It was his fault!"

Forgive me for generalising.

Also, I'm a bit sceptical about drifting having increased the parts supply, unless you mean used parts from scrapped drifted-up cars. The availability of lowering blocks for the 300-series hardly helps the daily driver when faced with blank looks at the Volvo parts desk.

Its a credit to this forum that evryone can come and post freely on a thread like this and have their say imo.

Anyone thats not bothered, or really interested in 300s doesnt last long anyway usually, so i dont see the problem there.

I know ive bumped the lad in front a few times. But Im quite a poor driver, not a young txtspkr.
And I HAD planned to matt black my 300 origonally.

maybe Im the problem after all.

You live and learn.

Since buying my 300 recently I've seen this site as a perk of ownership! Most of my Victor Meldrew style rants fall on deaf ears at work, home etc..
