Still dont truely know.

But i was using one of my spare bellhousings that lies arround and bolted the starter to it with washers between the 2 and saw the offset, and after speaking to a startermotr man who put lots of ideas in my head after taking measurements, i thought what the hell, and stuck a washer between the 2 faces and bolted it up in the car, shoved a battery on and well it fired up.

its fired up 6 times , batterys on charge for tomorow and im hoping it fires up again on the key with no problems,

as adams telling me, it shouldnt need it. But more than anything its working for 5ps worth of m10 washers so as long as it keeps working with no problems im quite happy.

kazam, she might yet be fixed.

Ive spent most of the day jiggling the car on to ramps from axle stands,

had the bell housing off to a degree ( could not get it past the subframe!)

bolted it back on, minus the rear mount points, stuck a starter on her and fired her up. bearing in mind she has no exhaust on. She seemed to be running sweet again! untill th next few nights have passed which gives me a chance to put the exhaust system back together on her i wont know for sure if its stoped causing problems, as the thing makes such a racket!

so far its bolted on with no spacers etc. and has fired up fine and ive seen no sparks or other problems fromt he 1.7 volvo starter i used!
