 ^ Ben reminds me of when someone asked for a 'shop of a caged Nova. I'm sure you can guess what he received lol

Another non Volvo update on the 300 Mania forum - might change the title to F.A.O Ben and John

Removed what remained of the parcel shelf and rear seat supports yesterday. The part that supports the bottom of the back window needs a bit attention from the grinder to get it perfect from where it has been tin snipped up to the spot welds of the screen support member, as does everywhere else where spot welds have been removed.

I now have a saloon which resembles a hatch in all but the coolest area - the boot

Was sorting through the crap that's came out and took this pic. Pretty much what has been removed from the back seat area. Going to hang onto it all long enough to weigh it I reckon.

The main piece at the front is fairly substantial and the rear seat supports were probably there to aid with chassis flex? So they have a large, heavy box section too.

I love the look of it as does Mick (only other that's seen it) What's peoples verdicts, too far? It's not all for weight saving, I just don't see the point in keeping it if it's not required, and means I can have a tighter fitting, better positioned cage too IMO.

Thanks to 50% of my readers ^ :D

Hollowed doors out today. Only two for now, will do others when the car is turned around again. I decided not to move into my mates unit in the ghetto so we're all looking for somewhere else and hope to have a place sorted shortly.

Awkward side impact bars - they don't like being evicted!

Removed the plate over the lock hole and dug out the filler - fancy having the lock back so no need for central locking or any looms to be in the doors. Easier/tidier/simpler IMO.
However it seems the circular hole has been filed out to enable it to be filled :S I will see if a P11 lock will fill the void, if not I will have to have a washer/ring type affair around it.

PM coming your way about the polycarbonate sheeting Tony :D

I will tidy the inside of the doors up and maybe remove a bit more as I intend to mount the original interior handle to the door panel but probably will use Ford type cables as opposed to the rods the handles/locks currently use. Willl be getting some material to make door cards/panels from. I was thinking black perspex. Hung back on car now for space reasons and now the impact bars have been drilled out everything else can be done on the car.

Something like this

Also bothered my arse to dig out my old 1:10 nitro RC car and spares etc, haven't used this for about 4/5 years at least lol. I repaired a few parts on it and charged it up. All I need now is some fuel B)

Look, a mini Primera. maybe it would have been more convincing with the works graphics on lol

Thanks Mick. 205 time on Monday B)

Get carbon fibre sheets for door panels, at least in here I have seen such sold in car parts stores and when tuning scene and F&F were not heard of that stuff was not even too expensive, don't know how it is today.

Read through the update half cut last night and convinced myself you were building a full life size remote control car.

Yeah mate I would like to but unfortnately CF sheeting is a rip off these days. As you say it is down to F&F lol. I am keeping an eye out though, can't fit works panels as I initially thought, because their rear wheel tub means the doors have had to be modified too  If you see any sheeting going without JDM tuner y0 scene tax then please let me know mate! 340pw

Small update, seeing as I have been totally dying with the actual plague for the last couple of weeks I haven't been arsed to do anything.

Having already made an extended/tucked/minimal loom for the engine bay a while back I turned my attention to the dash loom and the main body loom. The door looms are all heading for the bin too. The damn thing has 10/11 looms and about 8 are substantial lol No need!

Dash loom - removed wiring for radio, heaters/AC some spare plugs that I have no use for RCL etc.

No before pics of loom, the bunches of wire at 2 and 6 O'clock are what I removed.

What I'm left with

Main body loom - ABS, airbags, seat belt pretensioners, RCL, speakers, extra lights, spare connectors blah blah removed.
Image
Loads removed from this one, there's not much left lol

Should be good for identifying future issues/routing it neatly.

lol Now imagine a car with a lot of toys, say an Audi S8. Damn that's a lot of wires.

Aye it's a wonder they couldn't smell the copper lol. When I bought an engine bay loom from the scrappers so i could lengthen my original the guy said he should charge me more than a tenner as it's full of copper but he admired my persistance at pulling it out on the shittest most miserable day in history lol.

Just noticed I had posted one pic twice and forgot the right one lol.

Also, Ben where did you get your SPAKA stickers? A mate is after some for his mk1 Cav 340pw
