The Samara I'm hoping to buy is a 3 door.

We have a healthy following of East European stuff in the UK with several dedicated clubs and lots of meetings throughout the year. We even have the re-enactment brigade who turn-up in huge Russian Volgas or GAZ Chaikas dressed in KGB uniform..

I will hopefully buy another Trabi later in the year, a late model with 12v electrics and electronic ignition and preferably a heated rear screen, opening rear 1/4 windows and the later rear suspension arrangement - trailing arms and coils rather than transverse leaf... State of the art technology..

:D :D That sounds hilarious! Maybe I should buy a Stasi uniform and drive my Trabi around Bonn wearing it. Although ... it'd wouldn't really be that authentic since the East German secret police tended to prefer Wartburgs, or even long wheelbase Volvo 264s.

That sounds just like mine then. Except I don't have the opening rear windows, but the screw holes are already there for the brackets ...

The guy with the Lada seems to be having a change of heart which is probably a good thing as I can't really justify selling the Volvo after just two months..!! So, apologies to the hordes :!: of Vario fans who are thrusting huge wads of Stirling in my direction but it looks as though I may be keeping it for a while.

In the meantime Tom, look after the Trabi - I may just end-up taking it off your hands... :)
