I love the colour.. I think its the best colour of the Mk2s.. if Id've seen the car come into the yard, Id've bought the whole thing (if the price was reasonable!) I was dissapointed to see it in there.
It has electric bugger all.. and has a cointray where the switches would normally be. It doesn't have the adjustable brightness for the guages but theres some other switch there which I couldn't figure out what it does...
The interior is grey, its the same as the interior in the Mk2 brochure on this site.
I may have a go at the fogs if the yards dried up a bit.. theres a huge puddle on the other side of the car which I wouldnt fancy lying in...
I'll try and get the spoiler off (if the owner will move the car off the roof) and grille (cant open the bonnet all the way either!) as they've gota be pretty rare items!

yes please to the glt grill. if you cant get the valance off then dont worry. might be worth saving the dash, as smiths stuff is pretty rare these days..
It is bolted!
Not good idea to ripp it off.
Is the GLT stereo equiped? I'm looking for rear speakers' protections:
thanks

Afraid not sorry.. thought it looks like it had some aftermarket speakers fitted there at some point.

Anyone notice that Steve has managed to find a WMD? Considered a spell in Iraq Steve? I know a couple of chaps by the names "George" and "Tony" who are in need of your services
Seriously though, that's a sad sight. However I'd actually suggest I saw a sadder sight today - a 78 (W) 343 (ie: a mk1) - and in pretty damn good condition. I stopped for a few moments and gave it some respect. I'd have probably got upset/frustrated if it was a vario - do people seriously think there is no market for these cars?
On the up-side, there are now two red 300s in my yard - looks like you'll be in luck Tom!
cheers

SteveP wrote:No idea about the mk2 inlet box, afraid I've just come back from the yard
Not a good day.. first it started raining and puddles of mud:
- Couldn't get the spoiler as they've now put a 740 Estate ontop and you cant open the boot
- The fog light mountings were rusted solid
- Alloys and centre caps have already been sold
- Only 8 wheel nuts there and 4 of them were locking ones and the key wasn't in the car anymore!
BUGGER!

It's an A Reg - Perfect, the inlet box I need is from 1981 to 1985, so that would be fine.
I only need the little resistor box from that inlet box, but I'd have the whole thing if possible (any idea's how much it would cost?).
thanks

The backbox (assuming its the through-flow one) would be great if it's in good shape Steve (wink).
I'm due to visit New Romney in Kent in a few weeks, and I'll also be seeing Steve - might this work out nicely for shipping?
cheers

I did think that.. and the backbox looks new...
Where is the inlet box located? I'm cant put a picture to the part you're after!

The yard is usually fairly reasonable on prices, so it shouldn't be that expensive.

if you're after the bit for a 1.4 the chances are a b19 (this glt) enigne wont have the right bit..

Same heater box, surely? It is on the later ones anyway, and it looks the same on all early ones.

I'll have a go.. its sitting on the floor though and theres not alot of room round the other side.
Where is the heater box located? Anyone have a pic of the part? I guess I should have a look in the Haynes manual. This is all dependant on wether it rains next Thursday!
