If what you remembered is correct, then those values are just about spot on mate. Factory value is 0.5-2.0% at idle and you wanna be somewhere near the 1.5% range really cos otherwise you're in danger of running a bit lean. What's the idle speed like? Should be about 900rpm.
Now that the carb is adjusted right, you'll probably notice you have to wait a good bit longer before pushing the choke all the way it, otherwise stallage and no power occurs

Unless there's an ignition problem from the oil in your dizzy cap? Dunno, but those carb values sound just about perfect to me.

Yeah starts fine and (from descriptions of other people in the past) as normal. Now it just won't idle correctly and cuts out but not to worry - I'm going to take it apart tomorrow while I have time. I'll check the jets haven't come loose again and adjust idle and mixture if that doesn't help. Carbs are fun

I got to be honest, if I ever had a car that ran correctly all the time, I'd be bored to death

Made you look. Not that bad really. Basically the tardis saw a xsara sneak up behind it in the car park which made it very angry for being french fwd crap. It decided the only action was to attack it's rear bumper to make it more vulnerable.
Damage:
Then I used a jack handle and hammer and did this:
Unfortunatly the paint cracked so I had to remove some like this:
Looks better:
It's not perfect but it'll do. It looks better now I've got some touch-up paint on it.
Cost on his car = £90. Cost on mine? Nothing
Lesson learned - Look in BOTH blind spots next time I reverse.

£90?
You got off light man.
Ive been qouted £500 for a one inch crack in the bumper of next doors POS Dog Muncher Special Lantra, after i touched it while squeezing into a tight gap outside my house at 1mph.
And my insurance excess is, you guessed it, £500.
Good work though dude. Looks like you popped it out a treat.

I know, it's shit money for bascically nothing. I could get a new bumper from europarts for £56 but the guy wasn't having it. Apparently only "professionals" (whatever they are) can do the job

Indeed looking good, the cheapest mod is a bottle of Linseed oil and get working on those bumpers! Takes 15-20 mins to do and mine still haven't lost ANY of their shine since first being applied around a month ago now.

I used black diamond as recommended on here and it washes off after 2 weeks! Dammit. Got some linseed oil somewhere around here, been meaning to apply it but haven't had a dry day for a while. It's in the plan

Aye but you have to include a sticker saying this car contains nuts. Imagine driving past someone and then you gave them a nut allergy! Mega good spelling by there!
