360 clutch change can be done by removing engine instead, which is a much easier job. Engine will have to come forward so fan and stuff off obviously but thats the way my uncle used to do them for volvo in the end, it got the labour time down.

To do that you need to unbolt the box and move it back so you can get the engine out...it won't come out with the bellhousing in its original position. I have a feeling you might need to move the axle tube too. Personally, I find removing the box is easier, as you're a good halfway there already in order to move it, and many people won't have an engine hoist.

Weird...I've never made them do it. Both the silver 360 and the 343 wouldn't play without damaging paint, although it was quite close.
Only thing I'm wondering is if the front end of the B19 is a bit smaller in some way...?!
cheers

Was it waterpump that was making contact? That might be different between them.
Haven't been looking under bonnet of 300 for few weeks again, but if I need to do anything to front of engine it is bonnet lid off and radiator off, makes any job easier really, but putting bonnet lid back alone is going to be pain

I don't know what you are all talking about. I have had mostly carb cars and the B200K with the Solex always performed flawlessly. My last 360 did 200K miles and still run perfectly on a carb. I've had several B200Ks all ran perfectly with no leakage or whatever. Any problems with hesitation are usually due to ignition problems, but I suppose not having any carb problems I can't say for sure.
In fact if you need a good carb, have mine! I was changing to injection and now Turbo anyway.
The Sidedraight Stromberg is a bit of a pig, with the jet+needle wearing out otherwise ran fine with the usual attention.
The 1.7 is the one with all the problems, carb base warping etc.

funny thing is that the 1.7 carb is allmost the same as the b200k carb...
you can have problems with the floater just as easy on the b200k as on the 1.7
a few big differences are:
- the crossflow head on the b200k; no exhaust heat affecting the carb
- the different aircleaner construction for the b200k that doesn't wobble around like the 1.7 version
- carb mounting with nuts on the b200k, on the 1.7 these are long bolts and if the special rings (don't know the english word for "schotelringen"

) at bottom side of these bolts they will hit the floaterchamber making the risk that the carb foat gets to leak
the old stromberg is such a simple carb with probably just the needle and jet that wear out
