plan for the new one is er, I dunno.
Hadn't got that far.
I'm skint. So probably just take care of it and run it for the foresee-able.

And then of course some tastefull wheels.
And some extra gauges.
And probably pester jay for some 360 goodies.
And maybe a 2.3 turbo.

But not for a long time yet.

You could always swap the goodies over to the new one? Or maybe try something different with it........

(mind you, I'm a right one to talk, I've had my 360 for nearly a year now, and the only modifications on it are your old volvo sticker, and an Iron Maiden scarf on the parcel shelf :) )

Aye, swap the gauges, at least!

I'll be at work then, but I can duck out of work, and there's a choice of McNasty, Unlucky Fried Kitten and a chain pub just off the A1 at Newark. Minimal delay FTW!

Back onto the sad stuff...that's correct for mk2s here...
GLS = carb hatch
GLE = injection saloon
GLT = injection hatch.
...hatch versions of either could be 3 or 5dr.

It all changed for mk3s...
# GLS became the GL - always carb, always hatch, many (maybe all) were 3dr, discontinued in about 1987.
# GLE could be either saloon or hatch, although unusual or unavailable in 3dr. It was available as either injection or carb (although injection ones were badged GLE Injection (or GLEi), and I think they were all saloons).
# GLTs were still always injection, but now came in all three body styles. 3drs seemed to die out around the same time as GLs
Thinking about it, all 3dr 360s appear to have been discontinued after about 1987.

I know it's different in mainland Europe - for a start, you got the GLi.

cheers

James

Dude... must not buy Jet back... .I really mustn't...

That would negate the "Chris finally sold a car" thing quite a lot.

She's lovely though, I hugely miss her, and with the work put in recently this is bargainous :o

Haha...Chris fails at car sales :-P Like I can talk...

Steve...fair play...I thought they probably were, but I suddenly realised I'd never conciously seen one. :)

Yeah, I think they're all pretty rare in GL form, seeing as they're some of the oldest MK3's now

I love market differences (in a geeky James May kind of way) - they're the icing on the cake. Black Beautys in Holland, Black Diamonds in Belgium, DL-Cs in Germany, mega-equipped Austrian 360 "Millionärs" and "360 redlines", early German special editions (R-Sport, Oettinger, 345 GLS "5-Speed").
antiekeradio wrote:in non-UK markets a GLE was always a 360 saloon, with injection engine.
so never 1.4/1.7, never hatchback, never carb.
... although I'm sure I've seen a GLE hatch for sale in France at one point.

GL Injections have their own charm - base spec and therefore light, but the most powerful engine. Dutch GLi's got a plusher interior AFAIK, Germany just got "tweed".

Not true on the Mk2 front, GLE's were carb saloons, GLEi's were injection saloons. With Mk3's GLE's were mostly carb, and as you say the injection GLE's were (still) badged GLEi's. However, it wasn't that long into Mk3-dom that the GLEi was dropped and replaced by the GLT saloon.
