I'm sure you know what you're talking about, but don't understand how the expansion tank can blow up if it's cap is venting the pressure.

But anyway - c'est la vie - time for a valver then? 8)

I did wonder that too... and still havn't got my head round it properly.

When I fixed up the expansion tank, I watched it on the next drive (well, lifted the bonnet ever mile or so) and it was coming out of the cap then. Then, a few days later, it has blown somewhere around the stat housing. I'm wondering if theres enough pressure that the cap can't get rid of it (thats why steam engines had 2 different safety valves which work on the same principle at least, but tbh, I'm clutching at straws) With the new radiatior in, I'm worried that it's going to blow through that, so I've left the stat housing leaking, and am topping up water daily. This will suffice until the super secret stealth plan (tm) can come into fruition.

Yes, it's a valver. It should have been in for Retro Rides, but getting a job got in the way. Said job is the reason why she's having to do 120miles a day. All in all, I don't think Fake likes the job much

I guess it should really be "super secret plan that lots of people already know about (tm)" ;)

Rally season starts soon though, lots to be done before then!

A Renault 16valve engine.
Clio/Meganne/or Renault 19- 1.8 usually.
Or the Williams Clio 2.0 16v.

Good fit and relitivly easy swap for 1.7 340s.
More power.
Probably better economy too.

Im not sure, but I think I may ahve just got something right........

I'd say all right except for the economy bit :D . Well i certainly need to fill mine up more (admitedly it was a 1.4) but i've never bothered working out my MPG. Has anyone with a Valver worked out their MPG roughly?
