on a 340 you're lucky. mostlikely the bearing of the clutch tailpiece, quite easy to replace

As FJ pointed out to me yesterday, the lights are actually a different size. I bow to the superior V300 knowledge on this board.

I have a pic of the idle solenoid control valve thing and associated pipes if anyone (volvodspec) can shed some light on it for me. :D

The part in question. It is bolted to the passegner side inner wing.

The thick pipe coming off the carb should connect to this valve I believe but it just dangles about ATM.

Is this correct?

If someone could show me a pic of where the pipes should connect to I would appreciate it. I know the hose is crap and should be replaced!

ooooooooooooh you have a B19A engine, that's a different story info like that in the starter post can help a lot in these cases, i thought you had a b200k model.

i don't recognize it straight away but i'll look it up for you, i think it's part of the crankcase breather system

Cheers for that pic mate! Sorry I did not say I had a B19 ening, I thought I had mentioned it initially.

Reading the symptoms of not having the valve connected correctly will proably be the same as not having it connected at all! Mine is terrible on fuel!

I am going to fix this tonight. :D

One final question Mr dspec, where does the pipe go that faces directly down in the illustration that you posted?
I'm speaking to my mate on the phone at the minute and he reminds me that when we were looking at the valve last time, blowing through it, blocking it with fingers etc. that it never done anything. No resistance or anything. Maybe it is broken?
Thanks a lot mate, Liam.

it should do that under normal sircumstances, it's the floaterchamber breather, so like a normal weber carb it is active "breathing" when the engine is off or running idle. apply throttle and the breather is cut off. you can check that wiring the 3way valve to a multimeter and see what happens if you give it some revs.

the idea of the solenoid is that it allows a direct link from the area in the airfilter to the floaterchamber and as soon as you touch the throttle or get above a certain rpm this channel is blocked. on webers etc this is done directly on the carb, but the zenith/stromberg is such a easy carb that it doesn't contain these items

unfortunatly i don't know where that hose goes, my working experience with b19a engines is very slim. maybe someone else with a b19a engine can help you out on this (i can ask a guy from v3c if you want?)

Thanks so much for all of the information mate. I have much to learn about carbs! Aside from a 32/34 Webber on my Vauxhall Nova I have never had to mess with them on any car I own!

If you could attempt to find out where the other pipe goes that would be awesome dude! 340pw
