Dave, I've been meaning to comment on you Avatar, very nice car indeed. D reg, does it have PAS, borderline for becoming standard on the GLT? Glad you found one.

I need to swap some insurance around, I wasn't aware of the charge to swap insurance from car to car, as I've only done it at renewal time, or swapped companies. I thought that they may charge a fee, but £50! As you say it's only a letter. I've know of the charges if it's a higher insurance group for the next car, however mine will be 360 GLT's no difference at all! Whichever way they get more of our money.

Think you should be okay swapping your insurance, should only be a small charge.. My problem is that I have changed various details a few times and they are getting a bit fed up with me! (Might be a sliding scale)

The 360 is awesome!!! (aren't they all) It did appear on this forum a few months ago, if I said 55K, half leather interior etc that might jog a few memories

Oh, no power steering, good old fashioned diy. Not a problem.. I spent a while driving a VW LT31 van with no power steering. Now that WAS heavy

Ohh.. Johns car? That is a nice example, a rare 3 door too! No need to worry about rear window ledge rust!

Win? It wasn't in auction ;)

No, not the evil of power steering

I don't like PAS, its so easy to turn the wheels on the spot which puts strain on everything. Without it you feel the force your outting into it and treat it better. It also feels a bit light and scary at speed. :?

i'm probably one of few people who've done a lot of driving in a 300 with and without pas - personally i prefer without, but you get used to both..

Time to pimp the 300 power steering system!

Other cars I've driven with power steering are Renault Clio Mk1 and Hyundai Accent 1.3. Both of which had power steering, and are far too light and totally lacking in feel. The clio barely has any resistance atall, and even at speed its too light!

However, the 300 power steering isn't really that light atall and only really seems to be noticable (and handy!) at low speed manouvres. At speed the system still seems to maintain its feel!

I agree - my parents have a Meriva and my dad always moans if he drives anywhere in my 340.."uugh, it's like a bloody cheiftain tank" and all that. I just call him a pansy and say that real men drive non-PAS cars.
