That's a 340... and it's got a Renault 1.8 16v engine. If you fancy one already built, then it's for sale in the Offers sectionparklife87 wrote:i believe a white 360 with two grey stripes down either side of the bonnet. very tempting, however for me the enjoyment comes from actually doing it myself. Im gonna see if i can find the thread again tho because there was some good info in there!SteveP wrote:That's a 340... and it's got a Renault 1.8 16v engine. Oi, hands off - I'm picking it up at the weekendgriffo20022 wrote:Welcome mate! If your after a clean 360 check out the 360 GLS that's for sale on here, I think that would be a very cool base car to begin with!
Thats really helpful thank you. I have seen that car and is one that i am considering. At the moment i have done a bit of an impulse bid on ebay on a 340 1.7 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0367978147griffo20022 wrote:Welcome mate! Ideas sound very good! Completely agree with Volvosneverdie if your used to your warm hatch J-tin Handling is going to be the first thing you'll notice jumping into one of these! Theres quite a bit out there aswell for these with the help of Dai and Ad on here all depending on how much you want to spend you can start with the basics such as springs and blocks upto the point of custom coilovers with front adjustable top mounts, polybushing etc. which will help the car handle incredibly!
Engine wise both the 360 and the 340 are pretty good modding wise as already mentioned. The 340's you can go with the likes of 1.8/2.0 16V renault engines from the Clio's, 1.7Turbo from the Volvo 440, 1.4 Turbo from the Renault 5. The 360's you have the likes of the 2.3 Redblock or the 2.0 Turbo! Suprisingly theres a good choice to pick from with either
Extremely cool retro cars! I'm on my 2nd now, my first I bought as a drift car and fell in love with the 300 series
Get out, you picked one of the best examples and engine combination. Just drive itvolvosneverdie wrote:And im still tempted to sell it and start again.
Somemone has to keep 300 values artificially low dude.SteveP wrote:Get out, you picked one of the best examples and engine combination. Just drive itvolvosneverdie wrote:And im still tempted to sell it and start again.
That could be alright that one... it's not black, or ever was black though by the look at it! I've only ever known of one factory black 340... which was griffo's old car!parklife87 wrote:Thats really helpful thank you. I have seen that car and is one that i am considering. It originally had a buy it now price of £50 which vanished as soon as someone bid on it! i emailed the seller and he now want to let the auction complete. Gutted!!!
Tbh i dont really want to win the car, id rather the 360, i just had to bid as it was going so cheap!
thats just the situation i want to avoid! i want to find the perfect one that i can really spend some time and money onvolvosneverdie wrote:Think this is the thread youre looking for:

If you want a really good base car, youre absolutley right to hang fire for the perfect car.
ive had three, traveled in excess of 1000 miles picking them up, spent 1000s on them, and only now, on my fourth 300 do i have something im happy with.
And im still tempted to sell it and start again.
