Car from the link is Mk3, Mk2 is older, something around 1984-1985 were last mk2 cars made.

Beautiful car! I am so jealous of you all having AC in your cars overthere...

I believe you can fix your tacho cable wobble by putting some grafite powder in it. I don't know if that's the correct English word for it.
Disconnect the cable behind your instrument cluster (carefully, the fitting is very flimsy!) and fil it up from there. Turn the left front wheel (of is the cable connected to the right front with RHD cars?) a couple of times and repeat. Or take it for a drive.

yeah we use the name graphite powder or lead powder, and thanks ill see if i can get some soon,
I pulled the dash off so i could put the needle back on the petrol gauge and plug one of the lights back in and the clip to hold the speed o cable on was already busted. i also need help with getting the rear passenger door on the right hand side open, i have the door lining off and neither of the door handles are connected to any thing and the central locking on that door dose not work either the only thing that works is the manual lock. please help!!!!

I don't care if you need AC there, I want it here!

I know someone here in NL who sells new MKI, II and III Speedo cables. So if you can't fix it you can order a new one. I don't know if he shipps to Australia, but I'm willing to forward it to you if he doesn't.
