Just to confirm it will be the 3 of us coming, tenting it, too far to cop out and drive home for the night this time! Will be in the 340 for economy. (The 360 still needs the fuel guage/tank issue dealing with before longer trips so I don't have to keep stopping to top up  )

Sounds good! :)
Janis - are you just coming down for the Saturday, or joining us on the Sunday too?

cheers

James

Well...that was fun! Made it back home eventually. New clutch cable tomorrow! Massive thanks to Mac (and Debbie!) for help with collecting replacement fuel lines. For those who didn't attend, my weekend was a little "eventful"...but had a great time nonetheless.

Anyone take any pictures...?

cheers

James

I took many pictures, but as I have to get up at 6:45am to get to work tomorrow I only have time to upload one tonight:

James, I am amazed, and delighted, that you made it home in (sort-of) one piece!

Thanks everyone for a great day.

We got home about 10.45, via Silbury Hill and Avebury (another stone circle!). We ended up heading to Salisbury from Ringwood. Then the Oxford bypass was jammed up so we took the scenic route and didn't get on a motorway till the M1 at Northampton, all country roads for miles! :) Half expected James to pass us on the M1! 7 hours when it took 4 to get down there

Glad you got to see Stone Henge Janis!

Nice to see everyone, good turnout.

Was really fun guys, lovely weather too! Took me 4 hours to get from there to Leicester via Milton Keynes. Now I've got some very shiny and tasty wheels in my boot :D

Great fun indeed and it was a shame I couldn't stay for the Sunday fun. Nice to meet up with old friends and meet some new ones too.

I did 449 miles on Sat and the total time from leaving my house to getting home again was 15hrs and 50 min giving an average speed of 28.35mph!

The reason it's so high (given we did most of the drive around at under 40mph) may have something to do with taking 2hrs 45min to get back home including a stop for fuel!!!

I got stuck in that bloody jam too...not fun with no clutch. I was leaving 3-4 car gaps before starting (to save the motor as much as possible...it seems to have emerged unscathed!), and the guy behind was getting grumpy. Funny...didn't see him again once I got on the M1 sm56

I got back to Lincoln around 9:15, so I'd have been on the M1 (A43 > A46) from 7:45 - 8:15 or so. I had my toe down...and was enjoying the look on the faces of people who got out of my way, only to be confused by what came snarling past at a rate of knots!

cheers

James

FWIW bud, if I couldn't hear you rounding the teeth of the gears every so often (I presume to make the selection of that gear easier the next time?) it wasn't hugely obvious from behind that you had a problem. Good driving sm4

Ta! Relaxed changes close to tickover were fairly easy...but the higher speed ones were tricky. The 'slip' into gear is quite stiff, so it's hard to tell by feel when you're aligned. Realised in the end that you only need to change out of 5th below 15mph, so just left it in that and hoped junctions were clear! Got home, so that's all that matters!

cheers

James

You must have passed us when we stopped at Towcester McDonald's at 7.30!

I didn't see you pass as I was having an "I think I left my wallet at that petrol station in Swindon" moment. (It turned up jammed beside wifes seat/door where it had been accidentally flung in moment of panic during the journey!)

Glad everyone got home ok to far flung locations!
