IIRC head gaskets aren't exactly a strong point on the 1.4 340s. Our old 343 needed a new one at 170.000kms, and when we finally scrapped it at ~230.000kms the coolant was beginning to get mucky again ...

There are a lot of strong gaskets available for the GTT engine. So no problem there.

There are enough GTT's who driving problem free. Main problem at mine is the heat.. it's getting to hot when drifting. Need a big rad

Try upgrading to a late 1.7/1.4 rad mate, I think from memory you have a early 1.4 in that car? The lates are a lot bigger, might give the water more time to cool, though saying that, bouncing mine at redline for a few mins will still bring the temp up :(

Frits, if u need a 1.7 rad, ive got one over here. It's a lot wider. So probably gives more cooling. Only thing is: Doesn't fit together with your intercooler??

Decided to rebuild the engine. New bearings, new pistonrings, new seals, machined clinderbushes etc.

Hope everything will be ok  It's a lot of money.. I rebuild the engine myself, so no any guarantee. Will make big progress tomorrow. Engine needs to be ready before the end of this week. At the end of the week the engine needs to get back into the car. Monday I have to get back to school, thursdag 8th is driftround 3.

Got some phonecall from a person who is drifting the same competition. (garage /bmw specialist) He wants to help me. He is looking for a complete engine for me. It will be sponsored. If he can't find any, and I don't get the new engine ready, i can drift a sponsored BMW e30.. 8)

So thats all for now. Probably no pictures because of the time

High speed Frits'ing at it's finest! Congrats dude, I'm guessing school hasn't happened for a few days! Love the banjo bolt hook up for the oil pressure sender, my bodge on the B14 I was never happy with, although it didn't leak, it felt to rigid and it was on a long arm, so I was worried about snapping.

Lets hope she runs sweetly!
