Get those Filter Socks off! They're horrendously detrimental for power outputs, knocking off between 7-15BHP.....seriously

Get an ITG sausage filter or similar on there. Something with about 15mm of space between the top of the filter and the start of the trumpets.

They look like they're stuck on the end of the trumpets, to me, rather than fully over them. I'd certainly not advocate running no filter(s). I have two ITG filters (one 'twin' for each carb) on my 40s.
cheers

It doesnt matter how the socks are mounted on there they still harm the power output. Mainly because there isnt enough "spare" air floating around inside the filter. An ITG "Box" or "Sausage" filter is a much better option. Obviously running no filter is a stupid option becuase all of the dirt that is sucked in to the engine gets mashed in to the valve seats and stops the valves from sealing properly

Thancks!
No gauges were working, sorted it today with a little help from Haynes.. Also needed to tune the Weber's, and get them synkronized, going to fix that this week;)

they are made that way, so its space between the filter and trumpets

Its genuine Uni filters, don't think they are made so you loose power, they are made to create a space between the trumpet and filter..
They are not like the usual socks...

I made more power than anyone expected with those on. I imagine the trumpets end about an inch from the end of the filter. They might blunt it a bit, but they don't exactly cause a restriction if you blow through them.

Nice work, keep an eye on that radiator outlet though - someone did a repair like that on my 343 before I fitted a new radiator and it didn't last long!

Most of my dad's fishing boat is held together with chemical metal and duct tape, he has no idea what the concept "preventative maintenance" even means. Still, he hasn't drowned yet.
