Re: Derrick the Volvo!
common weakness on the old upright type mount, the amount of oil around the mounts has probably also done it's damage to the mounts. you aren't correct in the changover mk2/mk3 on the mount though, at modelyear 85 (introduction of the 340Diesel) the mounts changed so the very last year of the mk2 did have the correct type with the mounts on a 45degr angle.

Re: Derrick the Volvo!
Still no loom? You getting it off adam? It takes time, but the work is awesome.
So, engine is in! All thats left to do is wiring and pipes.
Old engine out . . .

MUGGINS!

new timing belt, sticker slapped on so I know when to change it too.

new engine going in

engine pretty much in, no pics of it proper in yet, it was dark. Tomorrow!

Couldnt thank my mates enough for the help of guiding the engine in! I needed a few pair of hands n all!
Like I said, more stuff tomorrow, should (in theory) be done by mid week . . .
yeah, there was a hell of a lot of oil! ha ha. and my bad, Im getting more knowledgable by the day!volvodspec wrote:common weakness on the old upright type mount, the amount of oil around the mounts has probably also done it's damage to the mounts. you aren't correct in the changover mk2/mk3 on the mount though, at modelyear 85 (introduction of the 340Diesel) the mounts changed so the very last year of the mk2 did have the correct type with the mounts on a 45degr angle.

Good work cracking on with it.
Can't help but think your going to have issues with the manifold placement

Re: Derrick the Volvo! (Pic heavy p14 NEW ENGINE!!)
Cheers guys. Yeah, the manifold works using a theory I've invented, called "being in the wrong place"
heh heh
So, an update. Coolant hoses and routing done, and the loom is pretty much done, just a couple of connections left to do. Wahey, more pictures!

PVC!!

MOAR PVC!

preferred the idea of solid tubing rather than hoses every where, looks neater, and was easier to route where i wanted to, that and it was hella cheap. I also did it because Im using the 1.4 rad, it wont melt like rubber would (being close to the zorst and inlet manifolds), it cleared the pulleys well, and in the future Im ITBing it, so didnt want to run the hoses in the standard directions like the 1.7 volvo. theyd look better black, but couldn't find any. I'll give the plastics a spray when I can be bothered
So all being well, should ahve the engine running tomorrow, and might be able to drive it home (provided I can find a suitable throttle cable)!!

Looking good, does this mean we'll have to invade local cruises now and annoy the dubbers?

Re: Derrick the Volvo! (Pic heavy p14 NEW ENGINE!!)
cheers lads! Yeah, the how to is going to be very detailed!
Got its started today, unfortunately a sticky starter and thus a flat battery has hindered the process. Started once, turned it off. Came back a lil later, and "tick tick tick" GAH!!! At least I know it works! Also, the alternator light has returned, classic.
Should hopefully run tomorrow with no problems . . .
Speedy was a great help today too, ferrying me around and leneding a hand! Cheers mate! Also got a chance to ride in the F7R'd beats. F*** me its quick! WOAH! Some pics soon.
