Re: Kessy mk2 340, Rev counter problemo
yeah with mk2's there's a big chance the rev counter signal isn't factory wired, but i would have thought that the mk2 GL models had this.
it's the grey wire in the 3-pin plug from the renix, and behind the clocks it's the fifth wire of the left connector; should be black but there's a chance it isn't there.
you can find how it goes through the fusebox in the greenbooks

Thats real useful, was contemplating just using an external tach, but thought it might be better/cheaper to use a later standard dash. That, and I'm doing an engine swap, so will need to re wire stuff anyway.volvodspec wrote:yeah with mk2's there's a big chance the rev counter signal isn't factory wired, but i would have thought that the mk2 GL models had this.

Re: Kessy mk2 340, Rev counter problemo
So last night it was the first time ive properly shown my dad around this site and hes so surprised with all the interest in 300's, he said people used to mock them so much back in the day, these cars are what got him into specializing in volvos as he was just a mechanic but then his dad got one (mk1) and smashed the front in so my dad bought another one cheap used the front to replace his dads and stripped it for spares and kept repairing 300's with his spares and thats why ive now got two garages full off volvo bits, cause honestly i dont think my dads gone a week with out working on a volvo haha for many years.
Hes got quite a few good story's of when people thanked the 300's and when it amazed them.
And ive got a few pictures of my dad 300's so if we ever have a big meets ill bring them up.
dads life story over ahaha

Re: Kessy mk2 340, Leaning!
So was adjusting my hand brake today and afterwards i noticed my car is leaning alot on the drivers side more noticeable from the rear, so i checked the shock and it doesnt seem to have collapsed by the looks of it.
any one else know of any other reasons of why its leaning?
heres a pic of the rear arches

Handbrake cable tensioned more on one side than the other? Can't for the life of me see how this would affect the ride height though!

Re: Kessy mk2 340, Leaning!
Personally I prefer no rear spoiler on a 300. (unless its a 700hp race car like the white KRB Mk 1 where it does something!). I just think they look better without! But also because I remember reading something about the fact that they have the built in spoiler shaped boot, designed to do the same job, at speed most of us do on the road anyway. I especially dislike the large one fitted to the later cars, but thats just my opinion :lol

I agree re weak spring, however,I disagree about the spoiler. The smaller mk2 spoiler is sweet.

Re: Kessy mk2 340, Leaning!
Must admit the small ones look much better that the later ones. I suppose they must add to the down force slightly as they are angled upwards whereas the boot rounds off downwards. I think what I don't like about them is that they are black plastic/stuff. Quite like the colour coded one on my 440 however.

Re: Kessy mk2 340, Leaning!
The sagging to one side - I replaced my rear leafs and it still does the same thing. I think they just sag sometimes, mine sags to the right or left depending on what the car is sitting on.

Re: Kessy mk2 340, Leaning!
Magnumpi got owned thinking his car was leaning but it had a front wheel parked on a lump LOL
If you're gonna check ride height make sure it's on a flat and level surface. I find it hard to believe that one spring would sag noticeably more than the other, they'll have come off the same machine consecutively, made with the same batch of metal on the same day, to the same spec!
