Hi Tom.
Looks like a cracker trip
What was that building with no roof?

Hi Rupert.
The Sharnhorst, think HMS Belfast. Fired the first salvo on D-day
and is still afloat in London today. One of our better eforts lol.
Cheers Mark.

Forgot to mention , we have HMS Caroline here since 1924. The only
serviving war ship in the world from the battle of Jutland in 1916.
She is 102 years old now and is being restored.

No idea! There were mosquitoes everywhere, so we didn't stay long ... There was a big sign on it saying "Film location", but I can't see how anyone could have handled the creatures for any length of time.

Made it back safely last night after leaving Norway by ferry at 8am, arriving in Denmark at 11.45am, in Bonn by 10pm.

11 days
6835kms
620 litres of fuel
2.5 litres of oil

Biggest surprise: not missing having a car radio, lack of arguments with co-driver
Biggest disappointment: off-season ferry waiting times on the coastal road in northern Norway, didn't spot a single other Volvo 300 in Scandinavia.

Car problems: one reverse light bulb fail, seat foam disintegration leaving crumbly stuff under the seats, creaking drivers' door.

Pics to follow!

On the road again, leaving the north cape.

A filling station from the 1950s:

Many ferries, if you want to take the "scenic route":

heading south down the E6:

Road to the campsite closed, after driving 20kms into the national park (it's about 11pm and still light)

Campsite with a great view, including an oil rig. The 620 litres of fuel have to come from somewhere! Apparently, it was all on standby, due to the low oil prices.

The "atlantic road", often used in car adverts:

Heading for the Trollstigen pass (troll's ladder):

No, those tyre marks aren't from the Volvo:

A fantastic road, but you have to dodge plenty of caravans:

Opel Commodore in Alesund:

Cruise liners in the Geiranger fjord (even more caravans):

Volvo ambulance:

Heading down to the south coast, but you have to climb for a bit first (snow in June!):

It was a really enjoyable trip, and the Volvo was a great mile-eater, not missing a beat - certainly also due to all your help and advice (including Mark, Rich, Mac and many others). Thank you all for making this happen!

Cheers

The briefest of updates: changed the points again after the trip, and had the MOT done. No advisories except a bad earth on one of the rear bulb connections ...

Autumn and winter are coming, so the car will be getting a bit of rest from now on.

Cheers

It went on air this week, but you need patience due to the advertising. And it's all in German ...

It's very lucky for me that you don't! It means you can't do a fact-check :-)

@Mark: thanks :-) The first scenes (after the elk) were filmed close by, on the outskirts of Bonn, the rest about 20-30 miles away in the "Ahr valley" area, well-known in Germany for its red wine. Not quite my cup of tea, but many people like it ...

Cheers

Outstandig nice video, very, very rewarding for your car!! sm87

I do speak German, and I did notice on mistake at 1:29, the Volvo didn't appear in 1946...

It's only a small mistake; keine Ursache!
