The rad's fine, it was flushed when I put the new coolant in there and came through clear immediately. 'stat was checked and found to open and close as it should, so was replaced whence it came.

French people had a hand in the electrics, Q.E.D! :wink:

well it's done another 20 miles today with no grumbles so added frenchness is looking like the correct diagnosis.

Yeah, it needs an exorcist rather than a mechanic..... :wink:

Buy some of this kit from eBay and do the job yourself.
