Yes indeed but I just wasn't feeling the love for the 740. The diff has already been welded on the GLS so half the work is already done. Plus it'll be my daily for a while and mk2 300s are about 1000% cooler :D

Plus the price... nobody would argue with that.

Know what ya mean - 700s/900s dont exactly have character like a 300 does.

You'll probably find having no power steering helps too, as I remember being sideways in Ali's 360 you could just let go of the steering wheel during a slide and it'll practically straighten up by itself. The only downside is having to put up with the hamster wheeling with so many turns lock to lock :D

Yup, it indeed was.

It was why the last retro rides at Haynes I left my license and bits at home too. The orig springs on my car were way too soft, I run ~30% stiffer front springs now than standard, which equates to about 400% stiffer than those ones ;)

Today's progress. Gearbox is disconnected as well as the torque tube at the front. Was hoping just to be able to drop the whole thing but alas no. I can't move the torque tube back off the threads no matter how much i try and lever it off. Any ideas peeps?

I retired early as I've got manflu

Speedy, the torque tube is fighting you because the splines at the front end are engaged in the clutch centre plate, and the tip of the prop is in the spigot bearing. Is there a specific reason you want to separate the TT from the engine? I'd put money on the fault being the coupling between the prop and box, and I'm 300 miles away.
