Hi mac. Have you had any joy with the stake nuts for the wheel bearings? Just managed to destroy two brand new ones trying to stake them.

Don't fancy buying two bearing sets as mine are brand new! Will also take a speedo clamp and probably a few other bits and bobs.
Cheers.
P.S. Hope to get that resistor out soon, I forgot all about it as I have been working through my box of new parts. Just came across it tonight as I put everything on the car. Apologies for the excessive delay.

Do we know what thread the stake nut is even. I'm sure when I looked at them recently they did not match up with anything metric.

No joy on a supplier at sensible prices so far - but,
15/16" AF - threaded 5/8" UNF (18tpi). Nut depth excluding collar 1/2" , collar depth 3/16" with width of 23/32"
(Yes Dai, we do know the thread)
Most wheel bearing kits seem to include the stake nut I've not found a solus supply. I went so far as getting quotes for re-manufacture but at the quantities I was interested in nobody else was (cheapest quote I rec'd was £800.00 for a run of 100 excluding vat. - a real can't be bothered price)
No worry about the resistor - you'll get there. Let me know what else you need (I'll have a dig around to see if I've any useable stake nuts).
Mac.

Hi Mac.
I do need one of the e clips for the speedo cable, also stake nuts if you have them and are willing to part with them. Do you have any source for wheel nuts? I could do with a complete set.
Many thanks.

Would these be what you're needing?

Hi Mac, looking for some advice from a thread expert. I have just cut a lump out of my torque rod to make it adjustable due to lowering. Been wondering how to go about this and was thinking of trying to tap interior diameter to accept threaded bar and using 2 nuts to lock it.
The external diameter is 16mm, internal 12mm. So, a 2mm wall. Can this be tapped to accept a threaded bar or is the wall too thin?
I'm assuming M14 would cut too much out of the wall, M13 may be acceptable? Is this size available in threaded bar do you know?
Any advice would be a great help. Many thanks.

You want to weld thread inserts in and use a jack screw with locking nuts.

Cheers Dai, never heard of them before. Just got on ebay. Job done.
Many thanks.

Agree with Dai here -
Forget 13mm - it's a NF size - it doesn't exist in the real world except in very special one off applications (and anyway using a 13mm internal thread in a 12mm hole would result in too shallow a thread in most pitches).
You could get away with SOME pitches in 14mm but would significantly weaken the tube wall (not quite as important as it seems as most of the applied force will be linear) but as Dai suggests - threaded inserts are the best way to go.

Hi Mac.
Would you happen to have half shaft cv joint bolts?
