me and james had a chat about this a while ago - but does anyone know why the redline is soo different on the vdo/smiths gauges?

I have a spare Smiths Rev Counter. The wiring for these things is dead easy: 12+ and Ground for the gauge electronics, then the 'signal' line comes from the negative side of the coil.
I have found out why it has the 7500 redline....The Bxx (high friction redblocks) - in this case the B19 - had a much stronger bottom end than the later B2xx (low friction redblocks), and could happily rev towards 8000rpm.

ooh i forgot - i've non-volvo wipers on mine too - some rather nice ones with 2 spoilers, which are unfortunatly a bit smaller than the volvo ones, so i cant see outta the top of my screen
