The man speaks the truth. My car was regularly garaged wet when my parents owned it, and now it's rotten as anything, despite somewhat flattering appearances. Certainly more rotten than Nessy, on balance! The VOC BKV judges are easily fooled

Better to leave it out to get soaked, then blown dry, than leaving it to stay wet for a week in a garage. A good compromise is a car port - keeps the worst of the rain off, but leaves it open to the wind. Bizarrely, a heated garage is supposedly bad too - something to do with making the moisture evaporate up into places it hadn't naturally risen into. What you really want is a garage with a hefty dehumidifier!

Best of all is not to get it wet in the first place!

cheers

Crikey, if our 340's been out and it's raining I want to get her in as fast as possible, sounds like I'll have to change that...

Well, it´s logical. Oxidation is a chemical process. Chemical processes go faster when warmer. Therefore a heated garage and a wet car is a very bad combination.

And all the reason´s that are already mentioned (condensation etc) add up to this.

No, better to leave a wet car outside to dry off in the open air. Being inside the garage causes condensation to form inside panels and rot them over time. I know of an old guy who had an immaculate mk1 festa that he washed every sunday, then garaged while it was still soaking wet. After a few years the wings and sills dissolved... but maybe thats just a ford thing.....

agreed , the best classics are found in a barn , where the wind can circulate through and get rid of the moisture .

the only other solution is a big dehumidifier

i always take my car for a spin after washing to dry her off - thats about twice a year then !!!
