I don't have Vadis, but Mac did post up the very useful diagrams from the green books for AC if that helps, once again http://www.volvo300mania.com/forum-uk/v ... nditioning

Anyway, I don't have Vadis as I said, but I do have a true Mk3 with air con. On a very quick from memory comparision with Andy's car, which is on the change over period of Mk2's to Mk3's, but generally speaking is more Mk3 than anything, we found a few small differences. I think the fan infront of the rad was in a different place slightly and appeared different to his and Mac's diagrams.

Also something else was different, but not being overly familiar with it all yet, Andy will be the one to tell you what exactly! I'm hoping to install it on my white GLT in time, so at some point I will hopefully understand it all and know everything about all the components!

I'm pretty tired having just got back from a long trip, but just quickly. Yeah I'm afraid the MKIII evaporators are completely different, so really we'd need MKIII ones, if possible please.

As you say the electrical ones are different as well. Pete's car has the auxiliary fan in a different place in front of the radiator, whereas mine has the fan in the special cutout in the plastic radiator shroud like the books say it should be, although the books do give a description of modifiying the sensors and installling this extra fan in front of the radiator.

I've a feeling that they decided that maybe that the original arrangement wasn't strong enough cooling wise and that you needed a fan in front of the radiator too. I didn't really get a proper chance to look at Pete's car, because it was very dark, but definitely it has a slightly different setup to mine.

My 360 (86') Came with an electric fan in the radiator shroud which is now causing me a problem as the bloody thing doesnt leave enough room for the PAS pump on the B200
i found that from 87' onwards the cars have the same fan in the shroud but also a flatmotor type fan infront of the radiator as you say, (all Mk3's A/C already pre-wired for both) it is exaclty the same fan as you find in 740's an 760's, just with a different bracket... the fan in the shroud however will need to be of the narrower type (if you have PAS) which volvo still sell for an insane price..
I guess i am forgetting that you guys dont have B200's though right?
and will you be wanting the radiator shrouds too?

regards,
Dave
P.S Pettaw, I can get Mk3 evaporators no worries.
Mk2's will be the problem

Well i'm not sure about mine is it MK2 or MK3, the engine is B200E but the year is '84 and the turning knob for aircon is above the CD player.

Are you sure it isnt a B19E then?
is the rocker cover black with an elevated oil cap?
84' means its a Mk2 id say, and u have the older air-con controls and probably the older blower case under the bonnet.
If you really do have a B200 then id just guess it was a changeover sometime in the cars past.. as iirc B230's and B200's replaced the B23's and B19's sometime in 85'

Could well be a B200, in the UK atleast there are a fair few 84 model Mk2 360s with B200's, it's the change over year between B19's and B200's here.

I'm guessing I'll need the radiator shrouds, but I'll have a check with Pettaw tonight that the 340 isn't any different there. The 360's over here are B200's (well the post 84 ones) just the 340's that are renault engines.

So are you saying later Mk3's have 2 fans on the radiator? hmmm, this is gonna be fun, the 340 e-fan, plus another e fan, plus condensor, plus intercooler. Hmmm, jap style intercooler mounting might have to be done, don't want that though :( Still, wait to I get all the parts and I can play jigsaws!

Im afraid that the "flatmotor" fan which goes infront of the radiator is rare here, ive only seen it once and it was in an 87' 360... so i snagged it for my car 8) 87 is the year they stopped selling 360's here.
Luckily for you if you can get hold of any 740 or 760 with A/C, it will have the same fan.
The other fan which goes after the radiator along the intake side of the engine will be useless to you in a 360 with PAS as i doesnt allow enough clearence for the PAS servo pump pulley.
Thats the problem im faced with atm as we never got PAS here so we only got the 'thick' fans, and you guys didnt really get A/C so you didnt get any aux fans

Also i dont think the shroud will be the same on a 360 as a 340 since the B172's or 14's both use e- fans not viscous right?
