Via simple logic... Birmingham is not in the M40/M4/M5 triangle therefore is not midlands. It is above the point made by the triangle denoting the way norf faces.

and another thing , there are 46 junctions on the M1 and thats to Leeds
Milton keynes is near junction 15 thats 1/3 of the way up the junctions so theres no way we are oop North
