Yes, I went to Frankfurt to see that car, because it's the clone of mine! :D But mine has no sunroof...

I was also impressed by the pictures, but the reality was....... different. I expected big problems under the bodykit, and I was right.

I've made a list of the good d bad point about that car before the end of the auction, it helped me a lot to take the right decision: that car wasn't worth buying, far too rusted! :( Here is a copy of that list.

The + points:

Working electric mirrors (the seller forgot that on Ebay) but strange older switches
Working electric windows
Heated seats (not tested but the wires under the seat are definitely there)
Bodykit in good condition, not broken
Haas tuning kit (lowered suspension, mentioned on the Fahrzeugbrief)
Sunroof not rotten but doesn't close properly. Lot of condensation inside the plate, can become fatal if not fixed quickly!
Headlights wipers

The - points:

Lot of rust behind the bodykit, the car is not "Rostfrei" at all as the seller says... Answer of the seller: "I have no bridge to see that" :-))) I like that kind of answer from "professionnal" sellers...
The 2 sills are completely rotten/holes, black paint used to hide it
Front valance seriously rusted, black paint used to hide it
Front left wing behind kit rotten, rusted part gone!
Rust on right corner windscreen
Rust arround the rear aerial socket (rear wing left)
Rusted plate under the car, near the exhaust
The 2 doors on the right have been badly resprayed (reason unknown), faded red on these doors
Both bumpers badly adjusted, broken lateral fixing, very strange position for the front one (accident?)
Broken foglight

Many 300s on sale these days will have problems somewhere, but listen to what the seller was saying:

Opas Volvo 360 GLT
Liebhaber fahrzeug
rostfrei und hervorragend erhalten

he's describing a minter here

Im no expert, but isnt that misrepresentation?
If I'd traveled all that way on the strength of his description, I'd be quite angry.

No, make that VERY angry. sm2

Sounds like my car, but I knew what was wrong with it before I bought it. The ad was a bit more honest.(exept for the engine braking down... )

The only good thing that resulted from that advert is that I descided to keep my 360!

So, once again, things have changed. Not for the better for the HÖR this time.
My job moved to another city so I will have to commute to work.

I bought (almost) me a White 1985 360i Saloon. Indeed, the cheapest version money could buy back in the days.
It has got some rust but the current owner is a friend of mine and he will fix it up first.

Why not fix up the HÖR you say?

It is really badly rusted.
Some idiot politician descided cars younger than jan 01 1986 will never ever become road tax free anymore and will have to pay ridiculous pollution taxes forever after... (the HÖR is from '88)
The white saloon is from 1985 so it will be road tax free within less than 2 years.

I will reincarnate the HÖR in to the saloon as much as possible, but the end is near...
The special parts will be transferred to the saloon to make it a bit more fun.

I just wondered if you had the original German "Brief" for the car, with the Hör parts entered into it? If you could scan it that'd be fantastic, things like that always help when trying to convince Mr TÜV that mods made to your car is "period tuning" both for the legality of it, and later one day for classic plates (30 years here, but no cut off date yet).

Shame it's so bad, it's a special kind of car!

I have the Brief and all the HÖR mods are on it. Even the 7x15" ET30 rims type "Macho 4" with the 195/50 tyres and the Momo sports steering wheel are on it.
To bad the rims are not on the car anymore... The Momo steering wheel and a LSD were solde separately aswell...

Hey fantastic ... I need to get my Momo wheel "declared" as well, a copy of your Brief might help!

Yes I know. I put in a bid at the time, and was too low. I've been too ashamed of that fact to admit it publicly so far  but I guess there's another happy 300 owner with that around here somewhere (or someone else doesn't know what he bought) ...

I'll scan it for you at work tomorrow. My scanner is not big enough to get the whole Fahrzeugbrief in one shot. At work I can go as large as an ISO A1 sheet.
