Pete... any developments with the speedo mate? Mine occasionally wobbles too, though I'm putting up with it and it doesn't do it all the time!

Talking of near misses.. nearly hit a badger on the A42 at about 3 in the morning on Friday.. If I was travelling at about 5mph faster I'dve had a bent valance and smashed numberplate! :(

Speedo wobbled in GLT for while until it stopped working totally. Speedo cable snapped. Changed new one and it doesn't wobble anymore.

Hi Steve,
Well, not had a massive amount of time to look at it properly. Took the N/S front wheel off and had a look at where the cable enters the back of the hub. There's like a plastic cover/guard which would keep the cable central to the hole, connected to the outer covering that encases the cable, which appears to have snapped from where it connects to the back of the hub, though I couldn't see how that could effect the speedo reading, other than rubbing on the cable. Span the hub and the speedo worked! The cable was turning, couldn't actually see anything wrong at that end that could stop the speedo from working, the cable didn't look like it was losing grip within the hub either. Put the wheel back on, and it worked fine for about....... oooh........15 miles! It's been working on and off since, mainly off, but I'm going to try the actual speedo unit route next, as I know they sometimes just pack up and get stuck, but this is more intermittent. I've got a spare I can drop in and try.

Careful of them badgers, and any other animal, human, or object you may come across! Too many near misses between us lately!

Pete
