Hmm, I'm starting to think the timing could be out like. Anyone point me in the direction of how to check this?

rocker cover has 2 notches like a V above each cam, the makrs ont he cam pulleys should line up with these, and when the crank is at TDC the bolt hole at the side of the block should line up allowing you to lock the crank in position.
bobs your uncle

I'm not sure what the problem was really. We checked the timing twice, firing order was right, freed up one stuck accelerator pump, then it barked right up with a bit of a push. It's frigging loud, popping like mad through the 'zorst.
The only thing is, it won't idle it only runs when you keep the revs up. I'm going to make a gasket to go between the manifold and the plastic thermal spacer dealy, as it has symptoms of an air leak. If that doesn't get it, I'll try bigger idle jets.
Tell you what though, it shifts a bit.

Bump start (eventually) FTW. Guess that's why the 340 is ligther than a 60 mate, as they knew it would be getting unreliable twin cam Frenchness shoved in the bay in their later years lol.
Sounds immense I are agree

It needs to live by friday, as some sheffield mates are coming up. It would have been done by now if I hadn't spent the last 2 days down in sheff, off my face.
