Pictures at last

Oooops
Filler still seized in plate so new plate will be swapped over. Am in contact with foundry again about cover plates, Mr Foggy, would this sort of thing be where VOC/George would get involved pennieswise?

I'd hammer that flat...
I've got a contact who works for a metalworking firm. Pressings like this are their speciality. I'll have to give them a call...
cheers

Thats whats been done mate. I've had a call from the foundry, saying that this weekend is a good weekend to give them any patterns I want cast so I'm going to give them Mac's coverplate. *If* this goes ahead, we need to work out how funding would work, and how many we'd need etc. I might give you a ring later

Looks like it'll be cast ally. The other idea we had was to use a flat piece of 3mm steel...
cheers

Mac's mould is in the foundry. First impressions are it's a good one, just needs the drill holes filling (a dimple will be left on the top surface) and the fins will need bevelling(filler added to outside, as casting hates vertical sidewalls). I should hear more about it over the next week or so.
They are doing initial quotes on "batches of 10, with initial order of 10, and provision for more if there is call". 10 sounds like a reasonable number to deal with at a time tbh, but I'm going to need someone with a business head to help out with this at some point. I've suggested to Foggy either him as VOC dude (I love volunteering people) or George M (who I havn't spoken to yet, really must) I also havn't spoken to Mac since this has started rolling, so need to get onto that too.
