Hmm, didn't see this thread!

My father always had Amazon's and PV's(still got a PV)...And as a daily we drove a '86 Volvo 240 estate. My grand dad had a 300. My dad says a 343 2 liter...but cant remember that...Really love the volvo's. So after my first 343, I bought an amazon...But it was a real rust-bucket.

Im currently looking for a 245 or 240 estate. Our dog is in the volvo twice a day. And my nice and retro GLS interior doesnt like that. Must be a pre 85 model, as in the NL, you dont pay taxes on a car of 25+! But guess what?! A solid 240 will cost you about the same money as a 2004 V50! Yep, that's right: Prices go well over 10.000 euro's over here...!

So if any of you know a pre-85 245/240 for normal money. PB me! Doesn't matter if its RHD, or has work to it(though prefer a solid runner)

In Finland solid 240 estate would be less than 10 000 euros, but finding solid one is difficult, most have rolled very high mileage and then restored ones can be around 2000-3000 euros, very good ones can reach even 4000, but it is very rare to see any higher prices. Browse them from http://www.nettiauto.com/volvo/245/?id_ ... 4&yto=1985, not much on offer at the moment, situation changes there almost daily.
As you can see, current offering is not very good, this one is 1500 euros http://www.nettiauto.com/volvo/245/2630864 2.1l turbo with little rust at spare wheel well (prepare to put 2 square meters of steel to bottom of car), needs brakes refurbished for MOT (ad says one rear brake shoe) and 'fuel injection adjustment' whatever that means with K-Jetronic which I think that one has (not sure though).
I would be tempted to get that, but I really don't have more space for cars at the moment, I would need some reorganising of my yard to get more space.

Classic gold/black theme of 80's in good use on that one.

It is a diesel 2+3 seater with solid rear seats (our tax law oddities) and is missing opening handle for boot lid.

Probably needs 3-4 square meters of sheet metal to be welded on and refurb of injection pump thing. It may have also differential that needs replacing. Pump does not like to run with veggie oil I have heard, don't know for sure about that.

But steering wheel is here on left side of car so no good for VND :?

Er, no.
I'm not that sensible.

I'm just going to buy one and hope it's awesome.

I did test drive before buying, all 10 minutes of it and bought that one without testing any other

It is now lot better than when I bought, still needs lot of sheetmetal and some other stuff, but I try to get it finished during summer. But it is quite lot more shitty to drive than 360 really, there is large wishing cirle at front of driver where he turns it and effect is a wish from travelling direction, it is worse with yank tank, but still something to keep in mind.

Hmmmm. Hadn't really considered the pitfalls to be honest.
Other than the turning circle, what else is 'not so good' dude?

I think I should probably check now, before I buy one on impulse.
