Top it, it can't harm really? Um, maybe?
I think it should be ATF oil, or some stuff used in automatic gearboxes, not sure if my memory is working too well?
Nope you're spot on mate, I'm seeing ATF in all the things I've quickly read up too... certain types of oil are OK but I don't have any to hand... so will have to get hold of some tomorrow. Ahh.. I was hoping Foggy would have some I think it'll be fine on the journey up, it has been so far anyway.
From what I gather you need to fill it up to cover the piston that comes out when you take the small blue cap off... and feel some slight resistance from the flud when you put it back in.
It doesn't matter if you overfill it either. Just put about a teaspoon in and get some cloth ready. It'll overflow out again if you overfill it but other than making a mess it doesn't do any harm. They all seem to run mega rich, even the mega low mileage ones because of the way the carbs work the needles and jets wear out but they're easy enough to rebuild once you've worked out how 'not' to do it and break things

Reminds me of my fix to Solex carb, it did worked very well, I just managed to somehow make idle circuit half dead, air did go trough there, but still no idling via idle circuit
Do we have carb rebuilding tutorials on site?
I think that with links where to source gaskets etc would be quite important at this stage of dying support of parts?

I have Mac's awesome 1.7 one (and maybe 1.4... if he's written one it'll be here) converted to pdf but havn't uploaded as we don't have upload to the main V3M server. Don't think there is a Strom one though.
Andy did an ace job of rebuilding that carb, granted the first effort didn't go great but I still don't understand half of the steps. I just know it felt awesome afterwards!
Speedy88 wrote:if that pdf is not too large I could host it.
I can too, I have plenty of space and unlimited (reasonable) bandwidth, have had some 300GB/month transfers and no complains from ISP so I guess such file downloads will even show up on stats
There is now 41GB free space, best part is that service costs only 5€/month, so it really is a bargain.
Well I've picked up a set of Leo's yesterday from Winston... pics to follow. They need a refurb which I'll probably DIY as given some time you can get good enough results, and as the car doesn't have to put up with winter salt they'll be fine. Only have three centre caps and these are in poor condition - does anyone know which others fit? I have a feeling that 240 GLT 'Virgo' centre caps will be the same size, although instead of the large 'V' they have Volvo with the two half circles above and below. Wonder if you can buy them new?
