I told people to check what type it was as it *looked* like a Smiths one (smaller typeface)....and sure enough, Jamie checked, and he said spade connections. Someone is going to be unhappy
Yes, in fact it more or less works....just not 'properly'. I also have a totally 'dud' one somewhere. The bellows are in perfect condition, and the mechanism is free....but the needle won't move under vaccum - very odd! Do you have a spare temp gauge for this lovely lady?
My suspicion is that it didn't come from the late 340 (as claimed) at all - I have a Smiths cluster, and there's no way it would fit - especially not since it had a VDO econ gauge (so it couldn't have had a Smiths cluster swapped in)! I've still not forgiven that guy for outbidding me on a brand new pre 81 244 taillight - to match the brand new one I have for the other side.....and he didn't want my new one to match / complete the pair either!
No, it didn't come from the 340. I saw him say about him breaking a 340 and reasoned that it didn't come with the wiring because he couldn't be bothered to remove it, so asked if he could at least clip of the plugs so I could re-use them. Apparently it's not anything to do with the 340 he was breaking.
Lazy....it takes about 5 minutes! Very misleading too - I'm sure it referenced a late model 340 in the listing. Ho hum...watch his feedback with interest...
i've got nowt to trade but i want a gauge face i can butcher for some practice - i want to add an led to my gauge for the gearchange light, so i have both in 1 gauge
Sounds a sweet idea Hugh, not sure what you'd use for sensors. Out of interest why would you have a gearchange LED hooked up to the Econ, and not the rev counter? Unless you just want lights to clarify your in efficiency!
incidentally, my origional plan was to use a diesel dash cutout, and have the coil light (squigly line instead of the choke indicator) telling me to change gear, but then duvel never sent me one and i crashed my b200e car
I've been thinking of an LED somewhere to show whether it's inside or outside measureing on the temp gauge, not got round to it yet. I do know what you mean about suiting the smaller gauges.
If you just want a one that works of revs, I'll probaby be able to help you out, sure I have a circuit diagram knocking around here somewhere.... (might be in Soton, but it's not that hard)
