Chers Nikidev and Frits 8)

I plan to lower it 3" at the front. i have made some different shocks. just need to swap them over lol.

The linseed oil turned it a bit darker than I would prefer, but It's much better than faded/grey. :) Agreed on waiting until it's dry. It's nasty stuff lol.

Any chance one of you guys could take a pic of the fitting kit for me? I may make something similar, as the louvre doesn't attach in as many places as I first thought.

Thanks, Liam.

Hey dude, what shock setup have you made for the front? I'm intrigued

I'm lowering 3" myself all round and was just planning on refilling the dampers up front with engine oil so just wondered what method you were trying out??

Alright dude. I've separated the shock tube from the upright so I can slide it further down and then re-weld it at the new position.
Image
Obviously in that pic the shock tubes still need new bottom pieces welded on.

My plan is to lower the shock tube into the upright by a further inch and keep the same -2" springs, so in theory I will gain a -3" drop whilst still retaining the suspension travel you get when dropped -2"

Well, that's the plan at least.

As for the oil, I'm gonna use 80/90w as it's meant to be a good match for the LR 90 shocks on the back.

Do you have standard shocks on the rear atm? If you do I would go with engine oil, but if you have anything stiffer I'd suggest a lower viscosity oil.

I'm no expert though!

What were you gonna try dude?
Woah.
That sounds awesome man. -3 with the usability of -2 sounds supercool.
Your 360 looked awesome when I came past it today.

Perfect the tube alteration and get yourself into buisness man.
Liamspec Proffessional 300 Drops (tm).

Lol you quoted me before I edited the post to sound less retarded.

Cheers man 340pw Shame we never got a chance to catch up mind! Aye, if the strut idea works hopefully it gives us another option. (CBA with the coilover making for this car and maybe some others are the same?)

Gonna edit the calender thread for next week mebeez?
Aye, coilover coolness normally comes with the kind of price tag not usually welcomed by the 300 comunity.

Get in at the bodge/mod end of the market. There'll be a queue round the block.

Guess this can be my new mincing thread lol.

As Ben and John are aware, I had some (self inflicted) woes on Monday (my birthday too, what a great present) lol

I acquired and modified twin electric fans for the 360 to replace the singular one I had modified from a Primera.
ATM these are mostly there for asthetic reasons, it fills in the centreless grille and is pretty 'hardcore' which is the look I am after with this car. Well I like them lol.

So I replaced the bolts holding the fans to their housings with long m6 bolts that go straight through the fins of the rad.
It seems I managed to nick the second core when I pushed the bradall tool through. Serves me right for not removing the bumper I guess!

It seemed fine when I fitted them but the next morning the system was bone dry! I refilled it and it was cascading out! See vid
The water spilling towards the back was caused by the header tank overflowing on refill. For a split second whilst on my knees I thought WTF is it coming out of there for.

That was taken on the way home, having made more water stops than a steam wagon and purchased an £11 bottle of KSeal that I may as well have (and did in a way) poured down the drain!

I looked/phoned around and wasn't prepared to pay the price for new/reconditioned rads but luckily FJ brought me over a single core 1700 340 affair that looked like it could be a goer.

It was then, after I removed the original rad that the hole was spotted.
Image
Here's the video from when I leak tested it to confirm things.

Quite the boring post so far, right. I has m0ar.

I removed some of the surrounding fins and repaired the hole with JB weld. Let it set and leak tested again. All A-OK this time around.

So I refitted my fans (lol) and stuck it back in. Filled her up and took for a run yesterday evening/left it stood for hours and not a drop. :)
Used it this morning for a second stage interview and it is back to it's best.

I don't expect my rad and water pump to last all that long now, so If they bite the dust it won't be such a surprise!

I have never had a leaky rad before, and assumed that to have that much water flying out then the core would be split open by a large amount - I guess not.

As she currently stands. not to everyone's taste I know. lol

Safety grille FTW.

Fingers crossed she holds her water man.

Water pump might fancy being a dick like you say, but double fingers crossed it hangs on a while yet too.

lol. A grille centre wouldn't have prevented this. Not like I was pige-owned or something.

True, but it might stop moar rad pain occuring.
be a gutter if you got it all watertight again only for an 800mph pebble to bullet you a new gush-hole.

Nah, we'll be right. Plus it rids the car of one of it's least appealing features (IMO).

Nice work dude, (bar destroying your rad lol!) I'm looking into replacing the stock fan on mine for a larger slimline item. I think we have some at work which I may try and acquire lol!

Keep up the good work anyway man!
