I bet the things we never think of today will prove to be the biggest problems. There's something random which has failed on every mk1 I've had, but I've never had to touch on a mk3...can't think what it is right now, but it's clearly an age problem...

cheers

James

How do you fix the reflectors? (insert another make of cars' reflector?)

What I meant was that the reflectors are effectively a perishable item long term. Lenses don't deteriorate except in an accident (although at the current rate I think we are loosing more headlamps to accidents :P ). I take you point though.

Re-plate / re-silver them. It's a damn sight easier than making a new glass. The idea being that you do it before the reflector bowl has turned completely to dust.

I didn't crash my Citroen, but a stone or something took a corner out of my headlamp glass. sm2 (if you look closely at this jumbo pic, you'll see the bottom outside corner of the offside glass is missing)

I agree that the whole cars seem like perishible items at the minute.

Well i went back up to the scrap yard again today because speedy wanted me to get a rear door for him but unfortunately it had gone( which mean there must be some one around here with one!!)
now some more bad news, as i was walking out of my car two lads in a mk2 golf lowered on bmw mim alloys shout "oi mate want to sell your volvo" i said no but ive got another one for sale at the minute on ebay (said he will bid on it). so spoke to them for about half an hour about volvos and shit  sayin how they really love them and how different they are and then they go yeah some old boy just drove in here in one and we thought he was dropping some scrap off in it and he scraped the car we were gutted, so then after all of that i finally got to go in the yard but before i did i went up to the scrap guy and asked if he would sell it( because hes sold my dad some cars before) and he just said no its going in the crusher and dropped a transit on top of it!! i reckon if i was with my dad i would been able to save it as my dads a local there ha it was a mint and i mean very tidy 360 GLT in silver. still gutted about it :\

Hi Theo.
He would have been better off selling it to you for scrap value.
It would have saved him the time and effort of having to take it to the crusher.
Cheers Mark. sm4

I remember seeing a mint silver 360 GLT in a scrapyard about 5 years ago, with about 55k miles - absolutely gutted when the 360 I was driving was a shed in comparison. Id've bought it if it hadn't had a car on its roof :(

Suppose the good thing is Speedy may get some good doors off it!? Mind you with that kind of attitude, I'd be taking my business elsewhere to be honest
