Yup  Missed that! Jack really was into the Scalextric wasn't he!

Rupert, she's had a heater for almost 18months now! Can't be without one tbh, it's too much of a pain. It's just not up to my standard yet :(

That's the spirit ;-)

Well done, glad it's back on the road!

Nope, I'm actually happy ;)

3 fails... one of which I was going to do this weekend anyway

Fail 1- Corrosion in strut top cups - Caused by seized top mount bearings. Chatted to Mac about this at the National about how the bearings were un available to which he pointed me to the correct SKF part number. Two bearings are on my table along with new top mounts (!!!) good condition cups, new springs, new dampers. All going on the car on Sat. I did try to swap in the bearings on Mon pm, but daylight ran out on me after work.

Fail 2 - Rear tail lamp bulb not illuminating

Fail 3 - Rear fog lamp bulb not illuminating

Both 2 & 3 are good condition bulbs, but it's the standard cluster earth problem. I will solder new earth tags as per my how to ;) AND take new pictures so they display in the how too properly again.

So, the only fail that counts is something I was about to do. Fake's finally starting to get back under control.

If there was a "like" button i'd click it :D

So are new topmounts still available but not the standard bearings? I think mine need doing as i have a knock from the drivers side suspension.

I had NOS topmounts in stock, bearings are still available. Volvomania is getting some new topmounts made atm, no idea on lead time though!

Good news, this lack of top mount situation is a big problem imo as I think a lot of 300's go around with worn top mounts. Great that volvomania is remaking :)

great news. Where can I get the bearings then? I'm still in the process of making some solid replacement top mounts for mine, as my originals are pretty perished, like you say Steve. Next week possibly. Need an old top mount to measure up the underside, but can't bring myself to take apart the strut again

Just about to head to work, but

http://www.vsm.skf.com/en-UK/OnlineCatalogue.aspx

lists the part number, you get them from your local friendly SKF stockist!

Well, pictures lacking (there are on the camera) but I suppose I ought to say:

Yesterday, she passed the MOT with no advisories :D

So, being Fake, she blew her starter motor on the way home   She really is female ffs.
