I love that noise, and the "moment of contemplation" until the glow plug light goes off. Makes the start of the day less hectic
The drive to work probably too ...

Nah, I'm just puzzled because Super Hans has already replied in this thread a while ago. So to clear up any confusion or doubt - there is only 1 dizzler here. Maybe he just forgot.
Re: Oops! - * RHD 340DL 5dr Hatch 1.6 DIESEL*
There something similar in starting diesel than those big WWII fighters and bombers starting, it is not instant, you have to prepare the engine and then start, with summer diesel during cold winter there is also bit of exitement, will it start with 1 or two cylinders first
With D24 it is always less than six when you start it, it does start fine actually but after a moment few drops out and slowly come back again, lot of smoke quite brutal sounds, when there is very cold it can run only with 3 cylinders which make quite exotic noise, slowly one by one rest come to party too.
There is no rushing of diesels really, but that is kind of idea of them, they just pull and pull, last forever without making big number from performance, I really don't like driving petrol car as a daily anymore, diesel is so much more suitable for normal driving and commuting.

Haven't tested it out yet, but apparently a previous discussion was somewhere between 4 and 6 litres/100km which is 47-70mpg.
Even 47 sounds tasty to me for a future holiday after spending some 700 EUR just on petrol on the Euro trip.
Having said that, I might have to book three weeks off for the same trip distance

After driving the 205 for a bit I've gotten evil thoughts about putting the engine in a 360. I think it'd go well, all you'd need is a vacuum pump for the brakes and about 6 wires
Oh and somehow mate that turny thing to the other turny thing.

If youre gonna go to the bother, at least put a DTurbo in.

Anything less than 5 cylinders is torture if it is diesel, sound is so horrible with every 4 pot diesel.
