What are those wee green spiky plants, Chris? I want some

Hahha, those are the only fake plasticy plant I have in my tank mate, I'd love to get rid of them, but my Kuli Loaches would kill me ;)

I should have a better picture of them somewhere, but they come in 4x2.5" rectangles worth. My tank came with 3 rectangles of the stuff, so I'm not sure who makes it. I did see 12" square mats of plastic grass in my local shop the other day though.

If you find a proper plant that is similar, can you let me know? I'm quite keen to change them!

not to everyones taste I know but hey ho

the tanks

Image

plecostomus catfish about a foot long

called Catherine after Zeta Jones the old man worrier

Image

smaller pleccy about 6 inches long

and the main event

meet Steve and Brenda

Image

Image

the ranas are about 9 inches long and four inches deep

actually this little jolly pain in the backside is more vicious than the ranas

meet Frank

Image

group hug

Image

another picture of Catherine ,12 inches of prehistoric monster

Image

her dorsal fin is really spiny and can give you a nasty cut which is why the ranas leave her alone

frank the red clawed crab shares his tank ( the top one ) with 3 clown loach , the small plecky and has recently been joined by 10 neon tetras, 10 penguin fish , 10 lemon tetras and 5 striped bars.

we are thinking of getting a blue lobster to join the ranas and big plecos

What you could qualify as a pet?

My current pets are more of random, but few are more permanent residents.

Woodpecker, Delichon urbicum (House Martin says wikipedia), some cats which I haven't seen a while, poisonous snake.

Woodpecker has decided that my yard is enough big to share, I'm not too sure about that but he patrols over yard and pecks wood here and there around yard, I think he has made hole to upstairs of my garage too and perhaps keeps space as if it would be his own.

Now House Martin is even more bold individual, my gardening hose is at one corner of building and he has made his nest above hose, so we have little difference in our opinions of suitable location of nest at the moment, when ever I pick up a hose he starts defending nest, he is quick, veery quick and flies veery close, sometimes hovers at air and we look face to face each other only 20cm between us, these 'negotiations' haven't been resourceful so far, but I hope he understands to live there in peace and I try not to bother him too much.

Those cats then, I think you have seen pic before, I kind of miss them at the moment, they would be good for Hunting mice under the house, but it is already more than a month that I have seen them last time.
Image

Oh yes, one more there is, flies circles around house, you can hear it, but you can't usually see it, one second it is at east and at another second at south, yet still impossible to pick by and eye, Common Snipe is he called ;)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_Snipe

So, pets and pets, they live near me, but certainly won't listen to me, perhaps more wild than pet, but perhaps most pet I will have because I'm so must on road ;)

there is a pair of chat noir that have taken residence by (and around) my motorbike that i'm reliably informed are 'commanded' by a chap from the old folks home next door. that bike seems a quite attractive for cats as the felines at my folks in suffolk more or less live on its (the bike) seats leaving mud and tat around and about. said cats (in portsmouth) are mostly skittish but happy enough to watch an oil change on that bike close up without fuss. weird....

mind you, it seems i'm (once again) being evicted for (once again) no fault of my own from this house so i guess they'll have to go back to hanging out at the 'home. i'll see about pics when it comes to 'zorst change time in a week (if maintenance is their thing) or so.

We've got a cat too, named "Miss Moneypenny", basically because she looks like Blofeld's cat.

Going for a walk outside our old flat:

She slipped off that balcony once, and survived ... Spot the Volvo:

We used to have this little fella too:

but then, umm ... you can guess what happened.

Good grief, I can't believe that I wrote that two years ago. We've been trying to run the tank down for years now, but the little darlings won't die. All hail the power of RO water; worth every penny.

There is now one Black Neon and two Cardinals. The corydoras had a baby, but they all died earlier in the year

unfortunately Frank has since died , evidentally shell shedding time (when they grow ) is very stressfull and Frank was obviously quite old because he was about 6 times bigger than any other red clawed crab I have seen

mind you the neons seem to be surviving since his demise , I wonder if the two are linked in any way

we have added to the top tank
it now contains

the plecky

three clown loach

4 silver sharks

5 neons

5 striped barbs

9 penguins

and ten each of

mollys

lemon tetras

buenoa aires tetras
