Haha, just remeber, it's your car mate ;)

Whenever I've been with Nick filling the dolly, he just chucks in a lines worth (the bottles are marked) per £20 or so, nothing too accurate! Think I'd go insane filling up in 5L batches Shimon!!!

I think 1.4's had 45 litre tanks. So from totall empty, nearly £45 these days!! You'll probably find £30 a time will just about fill it if you're not running it down.

true... a classic driving everyday needing lead additive would be a pain to fill up in 5 litre batches.... I like to dose accurately as I'm a chemist and have worked on fuel additives.... hee hee :)

Swapping one B14 for another isn't a big deal....but I can understand your concern. I'd go with the additives for now. I may well have a nice ~90k B14 available in due course, if you'd be interested. I also have a 5 speed box, but it's starting to show its age a bit at 207k ;)

cheers

The B14 is still a 1.4. It's a direct swap...you really shouldn't have to change anything except the bellhousing (if you want to run Renix, which I would).

As for the price...the engine was given to me, so if you're willing to help pull it... ;) For a few beer tokens we could have it and the box done in a weekend.

cheers

The B14 is a 1.4.

Putting in a late B14.4E would mean you'd be able to use 95 RON unleaded (rather than 98 ) and could leave out the lead replacement additives. Breakerless ignition saves you some servicing ...

cheers for the offer people its a really good volvo community 340pw

thing is if it aint broke dont fix it :)

i dont mind adding additive etc it keep the old girl running straight and true :D but if i was going to do engine conversion i would have to add slightly to the capacity rather than just replacing whats there.

the lovely 3 door would be nice with a bigger engine and longer dif but i would not want to do that to this car.

i would just buy another - which im considering??? i have bitten the volvo bug already :?

I think I have to agree you with you leave this one std. There can not be many in the uk in that condition. Once you start changing things for the sake of it then you never know where it will end!

I salute your dedication, sir ;)

Steve - Nessy's box is pretty well worn (input shaft bearings, I suspect, thanks to heavy vibration for ~30k from that bent clutch output shaft), but I do have another B14 box minus diff, so if you were to frankenstein the two...

cheers

well chaps i am sorry for not joining you guys this weekend but i had to make a trip down to london in Quakers and it was a great trip :D

got back late last night but the old girl did 70 / 75 mph all the way from manchester to london in around 4 hours :)

did plenty of stops to rest the car and i hit 80 once on a down hill :? but it was so smooth and a delightful car.

never skipped a beat :P
used just under 2 tanks of fuel - should still be enough to run the car till wendesday :) but i may fuel her up just to keep the fuel level high.

i hope the meet went well.
