I can believe small wheels would be a problem, mine's on 195/50 R15s and it shoots through 1st and 2nd before it even hits 60 (so that's 2 gearchanges in say 7 seconds). I'm tempted to switch to a longer diff.

Had one of "those" days yesterday, i.e pretty boll*cks.

Ben and i thought we'd head over to our local breakers to see if i could get a speedo cable as the old one had snapped.

But literaly ran into problems on the way there. Going up a dual carriage way, aproaching a car in front, pulled out to go round it, only then do i see something in the lane, i didn't fancy clouting the sump so tried to avoid it last minute stylee, but wacked it could and proper with my front wheel.

It looked like rubber but the noise it made and the damage tells a different story, almost straight away it was pulling right, so i knew i had a puncture, so rolled it to a stop on the hard shoulder- see grass.

Whatever it was had spit the tyre sidewall from rim to tread and dented my rim aswell, not a happy bunny. So on with the oversize tyre and steel and we limped it the mile or so to the scrappys. Basically we got two tyres fitted to the back for the good price of £30, but money i didn't need to spend.

The upside is it doesn't rev it's arse off as much now due to the bigger rolling radius, but it does look a bit like a dragster.

However i did manage to get a speedo cable, and i'm going back on Sat to get the prop, bell housing and sump, they also had a fresh in 1.7 so i'm going to get the bottom hose off of that (Adam) and whatever other parts it yeilds although it's properly rusty and spider infested

Then to top it off on the way home my mum rang to tell me the family dog has had a fit and had to be put down this morning, he had a good inings being 13, so like 97 in dog years :(

And today i've been messing about with a front splitter, i think it improves the front no end, but scrapes on my driveway and it's still not lowered yet

Todays efforts produced this- Before:

The big round thing is an inline fuel filter, sorry i can't remember what car it came from but it came from Halfords.

Adam might be able to tell you what car it was from, all i know is it had the right size inlets and outlets, so thats why we used it.

Awesome car mate, really does look good. Sorry to hear about the bad luck and everything.

I dunno about everyone else but I think the bigger tyres look better then the low profile ones, all you gotta work on now is the arch gap and it'll be perfect. and i really like that splitter, is that from a mk2 golf gti?

Yeah agreed on the tyres, and when it's lowered it's going to be more of a necesity as the splitter hits some speed bumps as it is. Turns out they do Yoko's in the same size too as my mate (the exhaust fitter) had some on his Mk2 Cortina, so i'll be getting some of those me thinks.

Had my new exhaust fitted today, all in stainless with two small silencers, so much nicer for pootling about in without the resonant drone of exhaust noise. Kind of miss the popping and banging on run down though, still there, just not as prominent

Will get pics up when my camera is charged so probably tomo.

Oh yeah forgot to mention what the splitter is from, no it's not a Golf item, you could say it's kind of from the VAG group though.
It pretty much screwed straight on, bar a bit of cutting to clear the nuts/bolts on the bottom ot the front wings, nothing a stanley knife couldn't sort in a few minutes though.

Shall i divulge the info, or keep you in suspense lol? Just for now i'll leave you guessing, but i'll tell later

I've found out today that though they disco'd A539's a while back, they still make them in 2 sizes for 13's (175/50 and 185/60 I think it was) as these are the tyre used for 750MC's Locost racing. Might be handy for the rollerskate lovers ;)
