PAS....the rack is a whole turn quicker (but turning circle is quite a bit worse), plus you can palm it with ease. There's a tiny bit less feel, but it's not a big deal. Each to their own...but for me it's a no brainer. I plan to compete in it, but only fairly light duty stuff...if I was doing anything which might involve damage, I'd have bought a ratty 360 rather than going to all this trouble!
The thread on the B14 sender is completely different. I guess I could have re-tapped one of the holes...but I sent the old sender to Shimon today
The nutserts are in as of tonight. My plan is to put all the oily bits back in tomorrow night. Tonight I'm mopping up the few remaining 'bits and bobs' - clutch cable, choke cable, random nuts & bolts, popping the rod ends into the hubs, and finally replacing the spigot bearing which I managed to spectacularly destroy last time. Getting the old one out of the back of the crank might be fun...!
cheers
James

My B200 is going to end up making more power than those French things
I have a pair of 'S' bonnets. I'll try to use the standard one if I can, but it's not looking good...
cheers

Everywhere you look on here these days there are projects. This is a good thing. Stuff is happening now, much more than it used to, and a lot of that is thanks to the F series lads, drift0rz or otherwise. What I find really exciting is that the Redblocks are getting more attention nowadays.
We're on the verge of the world realising that the 360 is possibly the ultimate budget sleeper. All over the country, 7 and 9 series turbos lie rotting (reeeeally slowly thanks to zinc) in scrapyards and breakers, driven more and more by the trend away from big thirsty cars. Engines can be had for pennies and big power is easily wrung out of them. 200hp/tonne is possible for very little cash. The days of losing traffic light grands prix to TDi jelly moulds may soon come to an end.
This little 343 is shaping up to be properly fun. I'm looking forward to seeing it finished.

More power

if you can get 170 out of an N/A redblock for around £600 i will be seriously interested

Yeah, I was going to say 160bhp+ out of a 2.0 redblock on 40's is gonna be a toughy compared to a 2.0 16v Renault lump... I'd imagine a fair bit bloody heavier too!
Personally I'd still prefer the redblock though! Hope to see this at the weekend!

More powerhehe f7p = 139hp + fast road cams and ktec chip= 170hp
needs to be rred too though to get a perfect map. and that is realistic as iam not taking de cated zorst into account,

hehe, you are missing a crucial factor though - whilst a renault F7R (the hotter 2.0l version) puts out a stock 150bhp it only puts out 175NM of torque at 4500rpm. Unless I'm mistaken a stock b200k with only 105bhp puts out 170NM of torque at 4500rpm. So if the redblock gets some nice well thought out upgrades that figure is only going to improve (though in stock form its not very revy and possibly a little less fun), but I believe the saying is "bhp sells cars, but torque wins races"

Yeah they do seem to be pretty low on torque... But a 16v in a 340 is gonna weigh alot less imo. Don't think stock B200K's put out 170nm either, thought it was more like 160?
Anyway, I'd love a redblocked earlier 3 door shell... it would've made my 343 so much more fun!

still, get a lightened flywheel and a few power making bits on redblock with carbs or megasquirt and i reckon it would crush a renault equivalent (and you wouldn't need to remove all the sound deadening
- I don't notice a huge difference in ptf's performance regardless of whether the car is loaded up fully with loads of tools or totally empty)
I'm planning on cheating and just starting off with a 230fb and seeing where I end up depending on pennies...

340 vs 340/60 thingy
