What's the rest of the car like? If it's in VGC with no rust, dents or scratches then it'd be a shame to sell it on if it's only belts and tyres that need replacing. These cars are now of an age where there's always going to be something that needs doing sooner or later and if you find a perfect manual, chances are that will be standing on 15-year-old rubber and have a 20-year-old exhaust under it too!

As to the car's value - it depends on condition and finding the right buyer. Check out for how much this one went for:

I saw that one Tom. Actually, I don't think it made its reserve. It was in pretty exceptional conditional but a lot of money, nonetheless. My car is overall very clean and tidy, the only obvious rust being to the lower edge of the front panel, below the bumper. The paintwork is all good other than a few burn marks from bird droppings which should flat and mop ok. Apart from the transmission problem it drives extremely well and to be honest I can't fault it in any other respect. In reality I won't sell it but I can see it sitting on the drive for the foreseeable future until I can get the parts. I've bought a clutch off another 300 Mania member but I can't see any point doing anything until I get the belts. It looks like the Yugo will need to be my daily driver for a while longer... :(

Pauline at Scan Tech is trying to locate a new supplier but their original supplier in Sweden no longer has stock. She has promised to call me by Monday with an update but she didn't sound particularly optimistic..

Use the new feature in this newer phpBB version. Below the box you're writing this message in, there's this tab "Upload attachment"... use that, no need to get separate hosting just for inline pics anymore.

I has belts! genuine volvo, but with no cracking, even less cracking than what the tech manuals describe as normal. I wonder if pattern parts could be made from them?

Just to be clear, I have no intention of scrapping the car, its in far to good a condition, I'm just frustrated that having owned it for a month I've only driven it for a week! If anyone can find me a pair of belts I'll be so grateful I'll give you a spin round the block in my Yugo. Come on, how could you resist...

Well John if Ian (or anyone else) doesn't want them, I'd take them off your hands eventually. But I won't be looking at a belt change for a while yet, still have few other bills for that car to get out of the way first ...
