I think that roll cage + other safety stuff or no rollcage and other safety equipment. Something between does not sound too good for me.

Yes, a bucket seat and harness would seem to hold you in much better than a standard seat, so should be better, and if the back is higher than the top of your head it should help stop the rood moving some more.

On the other hand, yes I can see how you could be pushed down to a slouch position, or sideways to the centre of the car with a normal belt, protecting your head from the roof, but surly a force capable of squashing the roof sufficiently far would kill anyone, whether or not they were then pushed out of the way or not.

I'm not convinced either way - I think I'll stick to driving safely and avoiding the need to be an case study of what happens with a standard setup in a roll

Rolling from 50 miles per hour in b-kadett (that is Vauxhall of around 1975 for you) will result you not remembering whole thing, actully not remembering even getting up that day, it results weird panes and quite odd feeling when you found out that you are strapped to bed while several hoses are plugged into your body.

That is my experience from subject, but don't know how much better it would be in 300 or when sitting on driver's seat as I was just a kid on passenger seat. Of course as of now I can remember some things, but it still is just random flashes here and there.

Friend of mine rolled a 106, and flatted the windscreen to match the rake of the bonnet pretty much. There was a distinct head shaped lump in the roof where it folded round him, and he walked away from it. He's no stranger than he used to be either

I reckon you're far better off rolling a 340 than a 106. But as nobody does crash testing of that sort, we'll never know for sure. Does someone with a big brain want to work out how fast a 340 has to be going to exert the same force dynamically as a JCB does statically? Just a comparable level of energy, within an order of magnitude perhaps? Take 5tonnes as the mass of the digger maybe?

Welcome, anyway! There's a Facebook group for V3M...if you haven't already found it. I really like the colour...although I think the graphics are a bit OTT for my taste...but then I do like the 'clean' look...

Not seen Hugh (5lab) on here for a long time - he probable has the most 300 related crash testing experiance that I am aware of

im not sure what to think about buckets and no rollcage now, i still have buckets in the fiesta but there taller than the top of my head, not sure whether that would save me if i rolled but but for now i dont intend on trying.


anyway, yea this car changed hands pretty early this year. my mate scott now owns it and is pretty sick at getting it sideways.


i came back on here because me and the bf have just brought another.

this time its more subtle, silver and black, set of cheap black alloys and lowered. il get some pics up later. its still the 1.7 340 but with a 2lt carb this time. just needs jetting in. we also have landrover 110 shocks on the way il put a post on it up in a bit
