Not really, just went round, cleaned and double-checked everything, then it went with a push start. It seems like it'll be a good starter, which is one thing I was worried about with the carbs. I'll be hunting air leaks today, then get it round for test one day this week.
I'm properly excited, I've been waiting ages for this.

Oh, one thing that may have helped was a new king lead (340 1.7), but the old one wasn't too bad so I can't understand what the bother was. The compression's a bit all over, 120/120/150/170, but it has stood for a while.

Nice one chap!
what renix are you finally running?
that whine sounds like the noise my old B14 used to make when the crank case ventilation was blocked. so check that
loving the back flash through the carb aswell!

1.7, but I'll be trying to find out exactly which one has the most appropriate spark map for making moar powah!

Yeah it's coming from the cam cover breathers, I'll have to stick little filters on them or something, didn't leave holes in the manifold for that purpose.

Amen brother! Awesome induction noise and the odd puff of flame are more than enough to make up for heavy fuel consumption!
Thanks for all the congratulations fellas, and support when it was all looking nightmarish. I'll pay you all with MORE VIDS soon.

Cheers man, they're dell'orto DHLA40, with 190 air corrector jets, and 58 idle jets. Once it's running properly I'll let you know how many turns the idle screws are at. I'd have to say the dell'ortos are a little better than webers, they have 5 progression holes compared to 3 on the weber IIRC, giving a bit more flexibility to the power. In reality though, there's little difference between them.
