The adjustable dampers (shortened) are £185 a pair and are made only for the 300 series.

yeah bit costly really considering you can buy a decent car for double that! plus homeengineering ftw.
im going to take a second look at my inserts to see if i can play with them - have a feeling my finished coilovers are going to be waaaay too short :lol

haha sweet and i can wait to get mine done i did start to look at saxo/corsa front inserts as they are very short due to the damper sitting above the drive shaft

It is a lot of money to spend especialy on a low value car. When you look at the cost for other cars they are quite reasonable price wise. It's only the very common stuff that is cheap.
What I did look at doing and work quite well is to add a MIni front damper with brackets as they can be obtained cheaply in adjustable form. If you have time to mess about it would be a cheap method of solving the problem

Just for reference purposes

I've got gaz adjustable coilies, shortened 2inches, even on 8x13's with 175/50/13, and about half an inch of arch gap, they were running out of damper travel, so ideally you want it shortened around 3inches, or consider a 2inch shortening with a 1 inch raise on the strut tops to make sure the foot valves in the dampers dont take a hammering

Thats what im doing

classicswede they are very cheap i just cant afford them at the moment
well i will hopefully be shortening them soon not sure what height to go at the moment because if i stick with 13s it will have to go very low and round here thats not fun also tyres arent cheap were as if i go 15s i not have to go as low to look good speed bump friendly at a 75mm drop and tyres are dirt cheap toyo t1rs are only 36quid a corner and 15s fill the aches better

Well if you stick to 15's then 2inches shorter will be fine

yer even a inch shorter struts would do i will probley do 3" just incase i ever fit 13s

and lift up the rebound limiters so i dont have to jack it up loads and it would stop the springs dislocating

The problem with shortening them too much is you start to run out drop, so the wheels dont drop when you "take off" haha. So when you land there's no travel in the suspension. If you put helper springs in then you shouldn't need to worry about the spring dislocating. Even if they do, there much easier to locate than normal springs, and you get an almighty 'PING!' when they do haha In all honesty i'd stick with 2 inches, although we lowered the car to the level we did, you wouldnt drive it that low, as it would be scraping on anything and everything

well mines down 75mm on front 50mm on back i have got 75mm lowering blocks for it and on 195/50/15s they sit rely nice hadnt thought about taking off as its not something i normally do haha i had forgot about helper springs so will just use helper springs rather than moving it all thought it may need cutting off to get in the lathe

Yano, tearing through the country side, round the corner with the tree's and old cottage on the inside, out into the open, SH*T! Humpback bridge!

Cant be good for the suspension
