B230ET? Pah, I'll be making that much power without a turbo

Plus I won't give my insurance company fits. Having said that, if it weren't for the insurance thing, I'd already have a B230ET fitted...
cheers

I don't think the insurance companies here care about that a lot... maybe they do... but they'd never know my little secret......

haha

They'd definitely have fits here in the UK. Ofcourse, who's going to notice a 2.3 turbo in place of the 2 litre though?

2.3 - fine, turbo - not so fine!

Why is that?

Apart from the heavy load on the gearbox and drive shafts...

i think he just means it'd be obvious to the insurance people when you drive into a tree

I am not planning on doing that just yet...
And I don't think my current (very near future) engine is wasted yet...

There are various minor technical issues relating to the extra power output from the turbo, but that wasn't what I was referring to.
I simply meant you can hide the extra displacement very easily, whereas a turbo is rather harder to hide...

Put B230 in to car, throw Penta crankshaft in and you have 2,5 litre engine, that can make enough power for 360 gearbox. Or perhaps B23, those B2X engines are better revving than B2xx engines, also they have made even stronger.
I'm thinking of installing b2x bottom to my car some day, that would car bit more responsive, and some of them (B23x?) had forged pistons from factory so it is very good turbo base also.

You need the Penta pistons too, or you'll get stupidly high compression. We'll not talk about that anyway....
The B23ET/FT were the only ones to have a fully forged bottom end, although various other units had forged cranks, or rods. They are stronger, but they have their own problems too. I think below 400bhp a B230 block is just fine.

Here's a pic.
Moehaha

losing Saxo's in the roundabouts now.
The engine is std. now.
running 1 liter on 13 km on the freeway now.
My tuned engine is sitting in a engine mount in my mom and dads garage.
I now have two choices.
- Sell the engine and buy a 1.7i or 1.7i turbo.(Maybe even boult a 1.7 16V using renault parts)
Husky racer did make it seem so easy

.
- Boult a better suited camshaft in the B14 and bould a complete front to back exaust using a 4-2-1 header and 50 mm piping to the back.
A friend who has made the strutbrace can also make an rvs exsaust.
for any of the engines i choise.
Need to help and pay for material.
Still pondering

Where did you get the Volvo GT dampers from? Any more info?
How about a twin carb conversion? That, a hot cam, a full exhaust incl header / manifold and some mild headwork is heading towards all you can achieve on a reasonable budget.

I got the last GT dampers here in Holland.(from volvo dealers anyway)
It was in a place called Ruurlo.
It took a 2 hour drive and set my back 125 euro's
And that weber is'nt nessecery becoase mine is a double barrel a full throttle anyway.
And with a dynorun and modified jets the results will be nearly the same.(I hope

)
And from what i've heart is that low end power suffers with a dubble barrel on a B14.
And those weber headers for a B14 are +- 400 euro.
These are all old stock from the 1960-1970 Daf racing days.
So it would only be another hot cam and full exhaust.
And making the hole in the belhousing bigger for the Angular sensor.
So i can change the ignition more.
Mild headwork has been done alraidy

.
I have found out that the GR.N camshaft was intended for the R5 5 GT turbo.
So its not "wild" enough.
An other camshaft will set me back another 160 euro so i have to choise wisely.
While using std. valvespings etc.

But i thing your prob. right about (re)tuning my b14 engine
Thanks for your quick repl.
