Did you leave the shell in there? Red crabs (and most of the tropical crabs we've kept) seem to eat the shell afterwards. We had one crab that we took all the shells out the tank, and kept them showing the size changes, but all other ones really havn't liked it, so we stopped doing that. Seemingly some nutrients in the shell or something!

I'd like to drop the water level in my current tank and get another crab, but daren't with my angel. Maybe time for a new tank :D

no we only had the one crab Chris , may get another one but all the ones we have seen are tiny in comparison
