Top tip: Don't even think about trying to fit them without having Volvo's own special tool. I have one, and I'm thinking of buying a second as a 'loner'. It's about £35. I guess you could buy one while you're there, use it, then I'll buy it off you. The part number is 9995937.

See here, too: http://www.volvoforumsrepairs.org.uk/30 ... ngepin.htm

Was it the genuine Volvo one? I've heard various stories of people struggling with the aftermarket (most commonly Draper) ones.

cheers

Sure, although the car was stood, so what shape they're in is a different matter...! I'm stripping the top half first, so you may need to remind me once I've started on the oily bits.

Hey

I just got a 340 and it has a couple of random bits missing, I don't suppose you have a speaker cover for the drivers side or the inside square bit with Volvo form the center of the steering wheel?

Thanks

Not a lot really.
Our rally car has similar symptons-used the old trick of wedging a bit of wood in and then trying to shut it.Result-nowt.
Next on the list jack the door up to see if that'll work-well it did if you wanted to lift the car off the ground
The door's been the same now for 7yr.

My knackered pins give me epic wind noise above 70, so they're getting done next.

I'm guessing that being an SE, James's car won't have the same wheel as yours but I should have one of those bolt covers lying around. Those speaker covers always fall off.

Actually, it DOES have one of those wheels, as quite a bit of this car is from a donor 1983 GLT...so the centre cap says "Volvo GLT" (which I'd like to keep). However, I do have a regular 'Volvo' one, too. I'm quite happy either to send mine, or for John to supply...whatever suits.

cheers

If it's a car you want to keep, then it's best not to leave it too long. I had the (terribly worn) hinge pins replaced on my GLT and now it doesn't sag quite so much, but definitely isn't "as new". I'd guess if you leave it too long (like I did) you start to cause wear on the hinge itself.
